Really & truly ticked off!!

I just heard about our newbie during our Obesity Freedom Support Group meeting this evening.
I am like you. Besides the fact that it is absolutely "mean" for a person to do this, it is incomprehensible that anyone would think that Jackie, our support group, or any of us who work hard to support each other would tell someone they would not be invited. THAT is what support is all about.
This person needs to be reported to OH, if it was a PM through this site. It is more than mean, it is hurting a very good person's reputation. What good would it do to do this to a person who needs us the most right now.
I am sure that Jackie will handle this when she gets back in town, but in the meantime, i would be glad to talk to our newbie, just as you have, to assure her that this is just plain UNACCEPTABLE. Call it
misinformed. I would like to believe it too, but it needs to be addressed.

And, all, take Ann's advice. Work on the positive and throw out the negative. We all need it and are lucky for those friends we have here who support us with their love.

I am very proud of all of you that responded.  You said everything that I knew you would.  Even though this incident didn't happen to me personally, I just could not keep it to me myself.  We have so many new people here & I think it is very important that we make sure they are made to feel welcome no matter where they are in their chosen journey, be it with or without the help of surgery.

Sue, have no fear...I've spoken to our newbie friend this evening & she's already reported to the powers-that-be within OH.

I'm sure there's many of you wondering who would say such a thing.  Frankly, I don't think at this point we need to do any public humiliation...the offender knows who he/she is & hopefully will pay attention to the fact that no divide & conquer lives within this group; no sabotage will be tollerated; eventually the offender will have to pay the price.  And if it was just a simple case of being misinformed, then the offender now knows the truth.  I still wish to believe that no malice was intended, but just in case it was, you may as well STOP now.  We are a force to be reconned with & we protect our own.  So if you come here to stir up trouble for whatever personal gain that may give you, you've come to the wrong place.

To all of our new sisters & brothers...you ARE in a safe place where you can feel free to ask questions, share your fears, share your accomplishment, share whatever the heck you feel comfortable about sharing.  Sad to say, in any group or organization, we are going to have to deal with the occassional odd dork.  They usually don't stick around for long, or given enough rope, they hang themselves.  So please don't let this minor distraction cause you to reconsider whether or not you want to be here.  WE want you here...we're a family.

Ok, I'm stepping down from the soapbox with no further comment.  In my opinion everything has been said that needs to be said.  I applaud you all!!

OK...I am behind on the posts and trying to catch up now...that being said...


What gives someone the right to make assumputions toward someone else's party?  I am sorry...but I do not believe it was an innocent mistake.  Jackie posted several times and asked for RSVP's.  During this time she could have personally told someone this party was not for that type of situation herself.  To my knowledge ALL of the parties that Jackie is involved in are open to ANYONE.  Sorry this Newbie did not attend because of someone else.  If he or she needs ANYTHING...I am always here!
