Really & truly ticked off!!

Ok, I'm not going to name any names so let me make that clear from the start. But something happened to one of our own recently that I believe needs to be brought to everyone's attention.

As you all know, Jackie hosted one of her infamous get-togethers at her home this past weekend & from all accounts, a good time was had by all.  Well, except for me cuz I couldn't be there, but that's not what this is all about.

One of our "newbies" was considering attending Jackie's party, then she got a PM from someone telling her not to bother going because it was only for folks that have had wl surgery.  So, she didn't go.

I AM SO PISSED I CAN HARDLY STAND IT!

Normally I will only speak for myself...safer that way...but I'm pretty sure that on THIS subject I would most likely be encouraged to speak for others too.  NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH!!  I already expect that Jackie & many others will have something to say about this, but I'm gonna use my soapbox time for now.

Yes, there is emphasis on weight loss surgeries.  And yes, most active members here have had some form of wl surgery.  However, to my knowledge, no where is it written that this is a restrictive website or group!  Truth be told, there are many people within the OH community that will most likely NEVER get to have the surgery, yet they still need the support, encouragement, advice, & love that we all need in order to succeed.

So, for the record.......YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE ON OR WITH OH!!

Anyone that tells you different is either missinformed or just mean & hateful.  I would prefer to believe the misinformed, but you never know, right?

I mean, seriously....for real?  Are you kidding me???

Thank you Ann and you are right this site and its get togethers are for everyone and I for one is one of the ones that might not get the surgery and I still need support from my friends on the board. So please tell the person to come back and not stay away. Who ever said it needs to apploize and let it be know that this is for everyone not a select few.

Thanks Ann for the post,  Yes I agree with everyone else this board is for all types of surgery and I can't thank all those that post for my walk with my weight loss. We have a wonderful board or should I say a great big family who gives good advice and stands by their family through the good times as well as the bad times.

WOW! I am in complete SHOCK! Who would ever say such a thing. You should be ashamed of yourself! I am sorry the "newbie" didn't go. We are all here to support each other no matter the situation. We are not all fortunate enough to get this surgery. I am so sorry this happened. It is ridiculous.

Ann, I'm glad you posted this.  It needed to be said.  And just to reiterate what Ann said - *I* personally am available to anyone who is considering surgery, has had surgery or even who is just dieting on their own looking for support.  Meeting and talking with you all is as much a benifit to my success as it is yours!  :)  HUGS to the newbie who missed out.  Mark you calendar for the next event or PM and we'll get together ourselves soon.

That just sucks. This is called OBESITYHELP not SURGERYHELP.com. Whoever did that is a poo poo head. I wish I could go to one of Jackie's gatherings but I'm too skeered to drive up there. Maybe one day. :)

I cannot believe that there are people out there who feel so threatened by the good things that are going on that they have to sabotage whatever they can behind the cloak of anonymity.  This Board is supposed to be a support system, not an opportunity for people to hurt others.

I am just reading this and am sad about this  - but before we all go crazy blaming someone for sending a new person a note, they themselves may not have realised that the party was for everyone. It was probably an innocent mistake.

So let me reiterate for anyone who is listening - any event that we ever organize will be for this whole community - preops, post op, supporters, people with weight issues, lurkers and anyone who just wants to hang out with us!!!!!  We can all learn from each other......
