I am starting to worry about this terrible pain on my left side.  It does not seem to be getting better.  I have called the doctor's office about 4 times about this and they say it is normal from the internal incisions.  I hate to keep calling them.  my stomach is still very swollen and hard.  The pain sometimes feels like a knife going in and everything is knotted up.  I have stayed constipated and this makes it worse.  It will be 4 weeks on Tuesday and I just feel I should be further along and the pain should be almost gone.  I am worried something has gone wrong.  Any help, suggestions or did anyone else have this terrible left side pain and for so long.  Greatly appreciate any help or advice.  THANKS

My pain never lasted any where close to that long.  I am glad that you have called your surgeon.  That is always the first step.  That being said...you are your own health advocate.  If you feel like something is really wrong then go to the ER.  They will call the surgeon on call to come and check you out.  That is what you paid for.  Your surgery cost include 6 weeks of follow up.  If you feel like something is wrong...go with your gut.  The worst thing to happen is you are told that you are just being a worry wart!  It may be nothing (hopefully) but if there is something wrong than they can catch it.  Good luck and keep us posted!

Have you been seen about this at your surgeon's office?  If not, insist on it.  If the pain gets worse in the meantime go to the ER.  Feel better soon. Loris

Glad you contacted the surgeon.  Never can be too sure.

I had a side back pain for about 1.5 months.   I tended to believe it was from the narrow surgical tables.  Felt like a pinched nerve.   Stretching exersizes helped.

I also suffered from this mystery pain in my side for close to seven weeks. It was explained to me that when the camera goes in it can sometimes cause bruising to the tissues and that it takes some time for that internal bleeding to heal. Mine was so bad that I almost could not walk for six weeks, and I just knew that something was horribly wrong, but sure enough, after the 6 week period they told me it would last, it began to ease up slowly but surely and I was able to start getting around again and gradually it went away all together. But for that time, it was like a knife stuck in my side that would not go away no matter what I tried. If you had your surgury laproscopicly, then this is most likely your problem as well, and I wish you well. Pam
