Just saying Hi

I haven't posted on the VA website before and just wanted to say hello.  I am 3.5 years post surgery and have used OH on and off for support and to get answers.  Currently struggling with recent weight gain.  My low was 122.  I gained some last year after a cruise and holiday - hovering between 130 - 133.  Felt good there and liked the way I looked.  But low and behold I stepped on the scale two weeks ago and saw 138.  Plus clothes are getting tight.  So I'm refocusing on what I need to do to lose at least 10 lbs, maybe a ltitle more.  A little scared, as weight loss is REALLY REALLY hard for me - no problem with diet and exercise - just my body is very resistant to decreasing weight.

Because of the tight fitting clothes, emotionally I was feeling like my original 230 lbs.  I was surprised to see a picture of myself taken last weekend which showed I'm still thinner than I've ever been and stil look good.  So, I'm hoping my mood improves as I take the necessary steps to get back on track.  I'm going to log all of my food choices on the web, avoid drinking before and after eating, cut out any sweets, and make a conscious effort to exercise more & record it.

Thanks for listening and sharing your stories too!

Welcome to the VA. site, Valerie!

Sounds like you know what to do to get back to where you were before.  It is the truth that you have to stick to the program to maintain or loose.

Visit often, so we will get to know you.

Welcome to the VA Board, Valerie.

It sure sounds like you have the mindset to get back on track -- I think that has to be half the battle.  Keep up the great work, and know that we are all here to help.  :)

Welcome to the VA board.  We are a great bunch!  You have made it thru the most difficult part of any weight regain post...seeing that you have early on and refocusing.  Try and remember it is normal to regain 10-15 pounds.  Let us know what we can do to help you!

Welcome Valerie!  It's nice to see a new member so close to home.  I'm also in the Richmond area.  :)

I know that maintainance is a hard thing,  I think it's great that you are here and being diligent about getting to the bottom of the recent gain to get on top of it before it gets on top of you.  it's all about control and YOU control your future.  I know it's cliche, but go "back to basics", start monitoring your fluid, protein, portion size again.  Make an appt with your nutritionist and see if they have a getting back on track support group.  I know my surgeon offers one.

Good luck!
