Good Morning, Fitness Fanatics.....

I know....I've been away for the past few days.  I have been SO busy that I'm not even sure I know my own name - haha.

Ok, so you may be asking....Why am I bummed????

Well, yesterday I went to see a Sports Medicine doctor because my hip problem has raised it's ugly head again, making it difficult to run (I haven't run since Wednesday because of it).  So, while sore and limping into the office, I felt like...right on....I have a sports injury (haha - t's the little things).

Anyways, come to find out, I have am SI joint problem and as a reult, it causes my pelvic to tilt and is causing all of my problems.  For years, I have been told that it was sciatic nerve and I was told yesterday that it wasn't.  So, now I'm in physical therapy.  He told me that this will be a lifetime problem, but unless I strengthen the muscle it will be more chronic than it is now.

So....no running for the next 3 - 4 weeks.  He told me that I could continue kickboxing as long as it doesn't hurt, but recommended the ellipticle, spinning, and definately swimming to maintain my cardio.  He also suggested that I increase my yoga to 3 days or add a day of pilates for a total of 3 days.

I'm upset over this, as I love to run, but I suspect that I may have to hang up my running shoes and go back to kickboxing or incorporate more spin class for my cardio.

So, what am I doing today????? I think I am going to pull out my Turbo Jam dvd and move.......

Sorry you are bummed sweetie...I know you will strengthen the muscle and get back to business soon as you can.  PT helps bunches.  Me today?  I walked already this AM and am working now...will be cleaning later and then vegging!  No major plans.  I did get in three miles so that is a start, right???

Oh, Jill!

I know you were disappointed.  It is wonderful though that you are still able to do so many other forms of exercise.

I have walked the treadmill, trying to increase the speed after 10 minutes.

now I am cleaning the bathroom and know that is worth some calories.

Did I tell you I got to a yoga class this week?  I loved it and it is on thursdays at 4:30 so that fits into my schedule well.  It is so relaxing!!!

Take care,

Jeane

That's great.  I'm really starting to like the yoga thing, myself.  In fact, I've been looking into taking a hot yoga class.  Just trying to get over the whole "it's hot" thing.

I want to get by the library to get a book on yoga to practice some during the week before next Thursday.  I don't think just once a week is going to do much good.

awww, I'm sorry about the running thing, Jill. That's gonna be a blow to you. You have so many other options available though and I know you're gonna do great. I can't wait til I can start working out!

Jill- you are an inspiration! I want to be like you someday! I hope to be able to run/walk in the Rock N Roll half Marathon some day in honor of my daughter and husband who have NF, My hubby runs with the NF team and I would love to be able to join him rather than cheering him and the rest of the team from the sidelines!
Just wanted you to know that you are inspiring!

JIll,

Sorry to hear about your hip.  Take care of it and don't be afraid to get a 2nd opinion if you  don't get some positive results.  I have been out of commission since thanksgiving and am on my third orthopedic doctor as of next Monday's appointment.  The first two admitted to being stumped and refferred me to the next respectively.  Now I am grateful when I can walk without a crutch.  It really makes me grateful for the running I got in before this all started.  I stil hope to get over this and get back on the road again but, at this point,...I don't know.

Anyways, my point is, take it seriously and don't let it keep lingering if it doesn't get better.  And enjoy the abillity to be acctive as long as you can.  We never know when the adventure of life is going to throw us a curve ball.

Take care of yourself.  I enjoyed our runs together and meeting your family.  You guys are great!
