We have farm animals and my daughters pet goat had kids (twins) two days before surgery so my husband, my daughter and I took her to the barn to see them.  We made a day of it and had fun even though the weather was chilly.  I also allowed her to stay home from school and be at the hospital with my husband so she did not feel left out.  She was 10 when I had surgery.  I also chose to write notes to her, my husband and my parents "just in case".  I never told them that I wrote these letters.  I had placed them in a location that I knew they would be found quickly and I destroyed them once I got home.  In my heart I knew God was with me and it was my time to have this surgery (he made the approval process so easy for me) but I still felt like I needed to be prepared!  After surgery I went to stay with my aunt who lives about an hour and a half away and I also let Kara come with me for a few days.  We prearranged with her teachers and got all of her assignments.  She spent the week with me and we had a blast.  She got to be involved in everything and I think that helped her to understand and she loved being a part of everything!

Happy, Icy Tuesday...
This morning, i ventured out to work espite the icy conditions. My PT recommended that I use Yaktraks when walking on ice...and I love them. The Yaktraks just fit over the shoes and add great traction when walking on ice.
At work I was able to get much done. With this being the last week of the month, there is much to  do to prepare for the new month. checked in the folks medications, worked on an activity calendar for the group home and set up some medical appointments for them. The folks so much wanted to go out, but with icy conditions it was unsafe for them.
At home, spending time with my kitty and checking e-mail.
For Wednesday, I hope to go to the gym before going to work. Physical therapy is drawing to a close, but I need to keep up with the exercises. The good feeling following exercising will keep me going.
   Travel safe and stay warm.

Yep, icey it is.  It is just starting to ice around here.  I just took Adam home as so far the roads are decent but deteorating fast.  We pretty much stayed home.  It is a good idea to keep those at the home inside in this weather.  Glad you had a good day and like the Yaktraks.  They are awesome!
