Last Supper Syndrome
OK, my surgery is on January 29th and I am not on a restrictive diet. Although, I have been making positive changes.
SO, here is my question: Did anyone have the perfect "Last Supper"? What was it? Would you do it again and was it worth it? I want to have something I just can't figure out what I want. Sushi and Sapporo maybe.

I had a last supper and I would not say it was special. We went to eat and I like a dummy chose a buffett thinking that I could eat some of everything that I would not be able to eat again. Knowing what I know now, I probably would have gone to KFC and bought myself a large bucket of chicken and pollished it off myself. Also was never that big on pizza, but I sure have been wanting to go to Pizza Hut. Also, I REALLY wanted a Snickers bar and Baby Ruth the week before surgery and never made it to the store to get one, really regret that.
I think it is more of a "you can't have it thing" rather than really wanting it.
Good luck.

I remember thinking for over a month of what I wanted my "last supper" to be. Now, I knew that I would be able to have this again at some point in my life...but I also thought it was what I was supposed to do. I love me some steak and sweet potato...so we went to Lonestar three days before surgery. I had plans to go somewhere else on Sunday evening (my surgery was first thing on Monday morning) but my daughter's goat had her kids (twins) so we went to the farm, got caught up visiting with family and made it home later than I expected. We stopped at Sonic in Gloucester and I had a yummy burger and tater tots. My surgeon did not require the two week liquid diet. My thoughts...have what you want and enjoy it...just don't over do it! You will do fine!

Life could not get any better than this!
Hi! Congratulations on your surgery date. It is right around the corner. My surgeon's office does do what they call a "liver shrinking" diet 2 weeks before the surgery. It consists of 2 shakes, high protein, low sugar slim fast or glucose control boost or the no sugar added carnation instant breakfast. And one high protein, low fat meal daily. I do admit that I did cheat once and a while, had the occasional salad. At the pre op, final appt before surgery, I admitted that I cheated and even though it wasn't the smartest move, I had lost about 15 lbs or so. They didn't postpone my surgery.
As far as the last supper. Me & a couple girls from here met the day before my liquid diet at Cici's and I enjoyed my last night of pizza and salad. I did also go out right before my liquid diet and enjoy an evening with my mom and son at Golden Corral. Loved the buffet before surgery and admit that I over indulged.
Since you do not have a restrictive diet, I can not see the harm in it. Maybe call the dr and ask a nurse? But to want to have the last supper is DEFINITELY normal.
Again, congratulations & can't wait to call ya a loser!!

I have been fighting more of the urge of a month of last suppers. My surgery is in a month, but I have a 2 week liquid diet. I've kindof given myself a pass for these next two weeks. I'm not gorging I'm just not really watching what I eat either. I am planning a nice dinner out with my husband the weekend of the 7th since I'll start the Liquid Diet that monday. It will be like an Early Valentine's Day.
Sorry I don't have any ideas about a specific last supper - I think Carraba's would be good!

If I could go back to before I started the liquid diet, I'd have gone to the Melting Pot. Best food anywhere. Hands down. I skipped it though and just gorged on all my other faves that I knew I wouldn't be having again. I think it's normal to have "last supper syndrome". Shoot, I still have it and have been on liquids since the 12th. I refuse to act on it though. I want my liver to be small so I'm sticking with the plan. :) I'm not even really hungry. It's head hunger. Best of luck and enjoy that last supper. Make sure it's your fave! You WILL be able to eat sushi again from everyone that I've talked to. ;)
