I am new to the McLean area, and I am looking for a Bariatric Physician and or a primary care Physician who is familiar with post surgery protocols and follow up patient health care.

Thanks

Dr. Moazzez is my surgeon, hes in Fairfax which is about 20 minutes from McLean.  Here is his website... he's great!

I second that! He practices out of Fair Oaks Hospital. He's my hero.

The tough part of WLS is not the first year, it's those that follow.

Thank you for all of your responses. Do these physicians act as your primary care physicians also?

I am also in need for some one to handle my day to day care, that is familiar with gastric bypass and have a good working relationship with the surgeons.

Do you have comorbidities that have not been addressed yet? Are you looking into revision or something? Why, at over 4 years out, do you need "day to day" care?

What I've found is that there are plenty of skilled, knowledgable, fantastic surgeons out there. There are also plenty of skilled, knowledgable, fantastic PCPs out there. Unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot of overlap in those two circles... I have yet to meet a PCP who isn't kind of just blown away by me, mainly because WLS is still pretty foreign to a lot of them. I sometimes feel like the bearded lady at the circus, only in a good way. :)

By the way, for a PCP who is not AGAINST WLS (but isn't really knowledgeable, either), you might try Dr. Sandy Ibrahim. She recently left my PCPs practice (Dr. Horne, he's in McLean, but I don't recommend him because his practice is SO BUSY... takes longer for me to get a physical than it does for me to see my surgeon) and I think she still practices over there. I'm thinking of following her myself.

Good luck finding both.
