Thaaaaaaaaaaaank you, Christy.  You are the person I really wanted to hear from since you've been through the Barker experience. You are doing so great! Way to go girl! I feel much better about it since you chimed in with your experiences. I'm honestly happy about the no protein shakes after 2 weeks thing. I see so many others who live on them and I want to be able to eat real food.  I was looking at when I get to add seafood and my mouth was watering. I can't wait for some shrimp and crab meat! Okay, no food porn no food porn (I'm just gonna keep telling myself that. LOL)

Jamie - Just my way: I LOVE having a protein shake for breakfast during the week.  I get in 30 g of protein in one shot and can feel at ease that through small lunches, dinners and protein snakcs like yogurt and cheese, I have NO trouble getting in another 30 g to maintain my weight.  Weekends, I have someone who likes to cook breakfast, but I then have to count to make sure I'm getting a total of 60 g of protein because a scrambled egg and 1 piece of turkey bacon doesn't = the protein shake (but the company is better than a shake ).

I am one that loves my protein shakes, too.  I look forward to them during the week and with my busy schedule it is so eady to grab one on the go.  I take them with me to the amusement parks that offer me nothing healthy to eat...just my opinion.  Some days I drink 4 per day...just because I like them...not because I need the protein.  I also get in at least 120 grams of protein every day!

I hear you on the protein shake thing.  If I never drank one again I'd be a happy girl.  Now I do a great job of eating all my protein (with two servings of milk, but that's not a shake to me...) and when they asked me to up my protein by 20gms I supplemented with a protein bar that I LOVE.  So i am good to go.

I will say though, that early on I would have never in a million years would have thought I would be able to eat all my protein.  And I was quite vocal about it when people told me that they were not doing any protein supplementation.  I just didn't believe they were eating it all.  Well ends up I proved MYSELF wrong.  LOL

Also, make sure you get in all your vitamins and i'd add a biotin (to combat hair loss).  just my 2 cents worth.  Good luck Jamie!  lys

I added the biotin in about a month ago.  I'm living on a prayer now that I don't continue to thin and go bald.  LOL.  It if gets too bad I might have to sport a new do and bring back the sigourney weaver look in aliens.  :)

Hi, Jamie:  I know it is all very confusing -- so many people with so many different experiences.  My only piece of advice is this:  Stick with what your surgeon has recommended.  If something seems odd, call his office and get your questions answered.  It seems there are as many post op protocols as there are surgeons!  Good luck with your up-coming surgery -- I'm very excited for you and the others looking at beginning your journey very shortly!  :)

Thanks girls! I will most certainly be sticking to my surgeon's plan. I was just wondering at first if that was a misprint and wanted to get opinions.  I was really hoping you'd respond, Christy. Thanks!

I find it so interesting that everyone's diet post op is so different and yet they seem to work.

Anyway, thanks for all the opinions and info!

Jamie

Oh and PS. I'm looking forward to hair loss! No biotin for me. I have horse thick, horrible hair and it needs thinning.

Wishing you the best. You've gotten great advice here. Stick with what your surgeon suggests. Arm yourself with knowledge & keep us posted on how you do. :)
