Updating you all...VERY LONG
Hi all...
First off, thanks to Ann for keeping everyone informed. I have not had a chance to read all of your thoughts and prayers and good wishes...but, I will. I know you all love me and support me and you will never know how incredibly thankful for that I am.
First me...I am doing okay. I had full blown sepsis or infection in my bloodstream, by the time that someone (Dr. Mo) finally listened to me. Dr. Mo was TICKED that IFOH ER didn't pull my line out on Sunday night when I was there and I feel fortunate not to have gotten a clot. I was convinced on Sunday that my PICC was infected when I woke up with a 104 fever and I couldn't move my left elbow at all. Within hours of pulling the PICC out on Monday, my elbow pain went away. I also had right shoulder pain and I was scanned for pulmonary embolism but, turned out to have septic emboli which are pockets of infection in the lungs that typically come from the heart. Thankfully, after a painful trans esophageal echocardiogram, my heart was deemed clean of infection.
I am now home on IV antiobiotics...yes, I have a new PICC line in and I'm okay with that.
Now onto the major thing that occurred while I was in the hospital. My husband was in a horrible fiery crash on Friday night. He was ejected from the van and then the van caught on fire and was completely destroyed. My husband was incredibly fortunate to have lived let alone sustain "as little injury" as he did. Now, I'm not saying that he only sustained little injury..I'm just saying that it "should" have been worse all things considered. He has a broken nose, several broken ribs, a broken left foot, a TON of stitches all over his face and head and he has a bruised pancreas. He also has severe bruising over each hip and lots of scratches and bruises everywhere else. He is supposed to come home tomorrow but, not without lots of help from me and probably home PT, etc. The most emotional part of all of this is that the police told me that when they got there, he was clawing at the ground and trying to get to the children--he thought they were in the van--burning. Thankfully, the kids were at home safe and sound and asleep with a sitter. I cannot thank God enough for all of the events that led to the safety of my children and the life of my husband.
I found all of this out late Friday night from the confines of my hospital bed and I was a wreck. However, I know how fortunate I am and how much I love my family and how blessed I am that they are all okay.
I thank you all for your support and love...I am really grateful for all of it.

So glad to see you posting and to know that you are on the mend.
I have had a PICC line, actually several of them but one ended up with a staph infection that ended up as MRSA so I know your pain. I'm glad that you were so diligent and that Dr Mo finally was able to get you the care you so needed.
It is so good to know that your husband is making a recovery. There are few words to say that can describe what happened other than your husband was clearly in God's hands that night. Miracles do happen and it was so not your husbands time to go. He has many more years as your husband and father to your kids.
With all that you are and have gone through, it is obvious that you are a strong woman. Keep being strong, for you, your husband and your children and know that we are all praying for you and have you in our thoughts.
Take care of yourself hun! God bless!

Lisa, your story makes me feel very humble and lucky that I have not had any issues like yours to deal with. But you also need to take a lot of credit for being able to keep such a great attitude throughout al of the issues you have been through. I hope your husband continues to recover and that 2009 will be a very good year for you all - it is not starting that way so far.......but it is early days. As you said - no ulcers for 2009!!
I am glad we finally talked while you were in hospital. You are an impressive woman....

Good am Lisa,
Very nice to hear from you even under cir****tances that are not their best currently. You are very determined gal & I hope and pray you and your husband continue to recover & regain your lives back day by day. The Lord is with you through these times. Things like these shake our faith but the blessings within these dire times are cause to go on & remain strong. My prayers are with you now & always.

Hi Lisa,
Prayers are going out to you and your family for all that you are going through. I am so glad that you are feeling better, and that your husbands injuries will heal. God was certainly with your husband at the time of the crash and will continue to be during the healing time.
Peace to you!
