OT Advice needed!

Tammy,

I totally understand how you feel. I personally never let my girls know their paternal grandparents for the safety of them as well as they haven't seen their father since 1999(he made choice before I got a chance to).

I am now married again and my MIL is ok. I wish I had a sweeter one but hey at least I got one sane. Anyways  she claims my girls are her grandchildren but only wants something to do with them when she wants to put them to work.

My advice: I would put my foot down to her and explain you will not tolerate favoritism when it deals with your girls they are equal or she can just not be a part of your family and watch them grow up in pictures.

BTW  I am a B*TCH !!

I am a B*TCH, too.  I absolutely will not tolerate favortism and she does know this.  What gets me is that she wants to treat Steve's sons from a previous relationship AND their 1/2 brother (mom had another son and got married) better than she treats Kara...that is where I have a huge problem!  It would **** me off if she just treated his sons better...but to add a child that has zero relationship to her other than the 1/2 brother of her grandkids...no relationship to Steve at all and he was never married to the boys mother...it kind of ticks me off!

Hi Tammy,   My daughter is in the same situation you are in right now, She has two wonderful childern ( 9 and 6) from a previous relationship and their father and his parents do not acknowlege these two, Now she is married and has had 2 childern with her husband.

Well his parents don't want anything to do with the first 2  even though Jeremy is the only daddy they now! He did tell his parents right before new years that since they couldn't except all his childern and remember all of them on holidays he won't be going back to IN.

The only grandparents these 2 have is my husband and I ( Mummum and Poppop). Shelby and Anthony are 2 beautiul childern and we sure make up for their lost on not being accepted in their other families! My heart goes out to you Tammy because I watch the hurt in my daughters face everytime this comes up, And my grandchildern are just learning how people can be so different.

I am honestly trying to be patient and praying she comes around for Froggy's sake...but I will NOT allow fatorism in my family or with my children.  It does break my heart...but I also know my daughter is better for who she does have in her life than who she does not!  I think I have decided to give her this final chance and then I am washing my hands of her in full.  If she can not accept me and my daughter as Steve has then honestly I do not need her in our lives.  I do have Steve's full support!

Yep...she causes a scene whereever she goes!  It's all about "my son" and how she thinks I stole him from her and won't let him call her or visit.  Well...ummm...hello....he will be 33 tomorrow, has his own vehicle, own $ or credit cards for gas, his own cell phone...you get the point, right?????

What a tough design to make sweetie. You can always give her one more chance. If she even looks at you funny make her leave. I would write a letter to her and let her know your feelings. It is easier to do on paper than in person because or emotions get too involved. I can relate with craziness. My family is full of it. lol.

Know that all of us that really love you will be there and if we need to kick her a$$ I can help. I need a good workout anyway! :-)

Whoo Hoo!  I have help in the ass-kicking department!  I am getting ready to post what decision we made as a family last night.  All I have ever wanted from this womas is to be accepted and treated equally.  Steve accepted me and my daughter so I honestly do not feel as though she has the right to exclude my child from things....just my opinion!

As an outsider looking in, my only advice is some that has been given to me over the years by a very wise man (my husband):  "Take the high road."  Life is short, and has a lot of twists and turns.  You never know what's around the corner, and you don't want to go through life with any regrets.  As my husband says, "the view is much better from up there (the high road)."  I hope that provides some food for thought.  Good luck with the decision.

That was the ultimate goal when we talked it over and made out decision.  If we take the high road and leave things in her lap then she ultimately makes the decision to be involved in our lives or not.  Regardless...I will NEVER allow ANYONE to disrespect my daughter.  Heck...my mom treats Steve's boys as equals...why can't his mother do the same for our daughter?  I am leaving things in the lords hands and praying for whatever outcome He deems great!
