You've GOT to eat! Plain and simple woman! You have to. I'm not hungry either & I'm nearing 6 years post-op. It was my issue before surgery too. We can do this. We've got to try. :) Let me know what I can do to help.

I know what you can do for me...... Force feed me..lol    seriously I forget to. Earlier I said thanks for reminding me to eat and now it is 6:57pm and I still haven't eaten. I went into kitchen to fix something earlier but got sidetracked and ended up taking out meat from freezer for dinner( which I have yet cooked).  This is not a "boo-hoo" response its a serious one. The only thing I can remember to do is drink my protein which I wasn't doing 2 weeks ago  nor taking my vitamins. I have had alot of other stuff on my mind lately and haven't thought too much about eating. Which I know wont help me lose weight as I haven't lost a lb in over 5 weeks.

Anyways just pray for me that I will try and get on track again.

Melanie,

I understand. Its EASY to get sidetracked & especially when you don't get hungry. Ok, so you ARE remembering protein and just 2 weeks ago you weren't. PROGRESS woman! Me too about the processing in the brain. But, doll WE are important so we need to treat us better. Not preaching just saying I hear ya & am with ya. Prayers always. Its how I'm made. :)

Oh, good post Kat!

At 6 months out, I have a hard time identifying with the "not wanting to eat" thing. I gotta tell ya - I'm a little jealous But I know it's one of those grass-is-always-greener-on-the-other-side things.

I am an afternoon snacker. Because I'm a teacher and get home mid-afternoon, I would just start eating and keep going until dinnertime. My "snack" would drag on and on. My nut made the best suggestion ever - I eat dinner when I get home. Even if it's only 4:00. If I'm hungry, I go ahead and eat dinner. Then, I can have my snack later in the evening if I'm still hungry.

This works really well for me with my early-to-bed, early-to-rise schedule. I know it doesn't work for everyone, because most people like to eat with their families in the evening. But since I live alone, I can do what I want

Hey Sarah! I dig your suggestion as well. K gets him mid afternoon and we usually have "play time" to let her come down from the hyper school high as I call it. We usually get outside in nature or do something together & then I'll get dinner started while we focus on homework. With the gobs of homework every night it takes a 1/2 hour or more to complete so while dinner is cooking, working on homework and getting some chores done I have time to wait for dinner & we end up eating around 4:30/5 pm and then I have another protein drink in the pm. I like your tip. Thanks!

I keep on track by continuing to be strict with my portion size.  I don't need more food, so I don't eat more food.

Hey Lauren, this is a great tip! Can you be a little more specific? What does a day look like for you? Also, the weekends I know for many of us are hard points in our weeks. How do you handle strict eating habits then? Thanks!

I try to stay around the 4oz. or eyeball 1/2 cup of food as my portion.  I notice that I can eat probably 6oz or 3/4cup or more if I want to, but try not to do that unless it's all protein.  For instance if I go out for a steak, I will eat more the the steak because it's so good.  When I have my yogurt I always eat the entire 6oz cup, but that's easy since it's a "slider" food.

I'm still very routine with what I eat during the day.  I really don't deviate from the plan because it works for me and I both enjoy the food and am satisfied.

Morning - Milk, followed by coffee
Breakfast - Yogurt
Lunch - Turkey, cheese and turkey pepperoni on a 1/2 wheat wrap and 1/2 a piece of fruit.  I will fill up on the wrap first and when I get full the fruit is what is thrown away.  Since we had so many peanuts here at work, I have been adding a few nuts to my plate for a new taste, but I'm careful with it since they are so yummy and I could see myself eating more than I need.  Thankfully the peanuts are almost gone now, so I should be done with that.
Snack - Protein bar
Dinner - We change up depending on the mood.  I mainly eat the meat of whatever we are having, with a couple spoon fuls of whatever side it comes with.

I agree with you that weekends are the hardest.  When I'm at work, I'm on a really strict eating schedule and my body likes and responds well to that.  Since on the weekend I am getting up later and out and about running errands, I'm not good about getting my breakfast or lunch in.  Sometimes I just go from the milk and coffee to the protein bar.  It's not a good thing, but it's just how the day works out.  If I am at home all day, I do better.  I'm trying to make sure I get my yogurt in at least becuase I have found that taking my pills in with my yogurt is the easiest way not to get a stomach ache from them.  Otherwise if I just take them with water on an empty stomach, I have a upset tummy for an hour or more.

:)

Thanks Lauren! I can eat a cup of food most of the time. I am focusing more on the protein at each meal now. Its been hard. Meat has not really been my friend. I find that beef, chicken & tuna are not easy for me. But, I do try. Tuna - not anymore. Its rare I can eat it and it works. Beef has to be 93% or higher lean and I can eat a palm sized burger that its. With chicken it has to be moist and chopped up/strips. Otherwise, it doesn't settle well.

I too enjoy turkey pepperoni. It has bite. I agree about the slider food - like my yogurts I eat. They are easier to get i

Kat,

For me, my best tool for staying on track is accountability.  I get that from participation in a small support group that is not open to all.  By that I mean when the group was started, we agreed to the following -
limit the size to 12 members,  2 years +
new members could only join if someone drops out
what is said at the meeting, stays private so all feel free to share
agreed on agenda for the meetings so we stay focused.

While I love the support I get from friends on OH, I have come to understand that I need the accountability of a face-to-face group and the new information that is always surfacing. It would be to easy for me to hide bad habits if I never had to face people who have been there and can see the truth.

Is this is the kind of information you want?
