I have a 3inch cute down my stomach what am not worried about the scaer at all.  After I had the surgury done I could eat ANYTHING NOTHING GOT ME SICK. I was still having suger candy everynow and then I could eat any kind of meats NOTHING I MEAN NOTHING MADE ME SICK if you know where am comeing from. I had alot of friends who had the weight loss surgury done but found out there stomach was cut all the way. So that's when I started to do some reading up on what I had done to me. I found out that Dr. Schechner does not cut the stomach he puts 4 row vertical staplers in your stomach after the stapler was fired then they where removed.  then he took the my large intence dis contack them and took the small intenced and re contack them.  The day I went in for surgury I was 247lbs today am 185lbs. I loss only 62 lbs in 2 years after having it done. I want to know was my surgury done right and is that why I only loss 62 lbs? Like I said before I had friends who had it done lap and they loss like over 100 lbs I know everyone is diffent but I think I should will be lossing weight. I would ask my doc. But I was one of his last people to get this done he ret 3 weeks after I had mine done. I NEED YA'LL HELP. What can I do to loss more weight. Am so sad because I real though I would have loss a hell lot more then this. And we me being sad it's like all I want to do now is eat. if you call his # he still answers, his partner is still in practice in Chesapeake (dr. yancey) and you are welcome to come to any area support group.  I can't really tell you if your surgery was done right or not, since i'm not up on the different ways surgery are done.  Welcome back, i'm sure some of the others here may have more insight.

Hi Jennifer and thanks for the answer but I went to Dr. Yancey that's who I wanted to do my surgury but the girls who he had working in his office at that time didn't know what the hell they where doing when it came to trying to get me prove with the navy. But I also went back to his new office when it open up in chesapeake for my 6 months check up and he told me he wasn't seeing any of my dr. paystions. I know he use to be partner with my doc. But dr yancy does his diffence from my doc. Dr. Yancey CUT THE STOMACH AND THEN PUT ROLLS OF STAPLES IN IT. MY DR. ONLY MADE A SMALLER TUMMY WITH OUT THE CUTING AND THEN STAPLE IT FRIE IT AND THEN TOOK THE STAPLES OUT. Well I would love to go to his support groups meeting I use to go to them before I had mine done. Can you tell me where and when are they now. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP. MARIA

Maria, I think what you are asking us is not possible to answer  - you need to go and see a gastric doctor and get examined and ask him these questions  -  I do not understand what you are saying was done.

Without knowing more about your surgery and what you eat or have been eating, I doubt anyone can have enough knowledge to help you.

Please wrote down a typical day's eating and let me take a look at it - be honest about what you are eating and portion sizes etc......... and we can give you some advice on eating - but the surgery side you need to talk with a doctor...

Sorry I can't be of more help......

Hello Jackie and thanks for helping me out I real do need it. lol. ok let me answer your q's I did go see a gastric doctor on navy base they made me drink some thing and took pics of it going down to see if I had a link or if it open back up to a bigger size. But they told me everything look fine. and the surgury I had done they don't cut the stomach in half they only put 4 rolls of staples in it to make a small pouch and then they fire the staples and then they take them out. Your surgury the proumble cut your stomach in half and then staples it back togather so you have your stomach cut in half. they never real cut my stomach in half they only what you might call staple off a small amounts of it. now about what I can eat I can eat everything and the portion sizes is almost like it was before I had the surgury. But there are somedays I can only eat a little but some days I can eat alot. for ex. when I had the surgury done about 7 months after it I could only eat maybe 2 bite of a hamburger from Mickey Dee and the hamburger was a happy meal. now I can eat the whole hamburger plus the fry's. Can you please give me what typical day of eating is like what you eat. I belive it is my eating habbits but am soooo dam depress over it I want to stop and go on the right track it's just am so depress I see my friends who had it done from a diffent dr. 2 months before I had mine and she already loss 140lns and here I sit with only 67 lbs. can you please let me know what you eat. and if yall can please help me out. thanks and god bless maria

Why did you go back to eating Mickey D's???  I rarely eat there (only three times in 4 years!) and even then it was only 2-3 chicken nuggets.  What you had done is only a tool...it is up to you to use it.  Fast food is NOT your friend and only causes problems.  Sorry to be so harsh, but I know you were told about proper nutrition in your preop classes.  I am very passionate about this surgery.  It gave me a better quality of life back.  I would not want to sabotage it with fast food.  Make the most of what you have and if you are eating Mickey D's because of depression issues...talk to someone or post on here instead of the fast food trips.  You are worth more than that!

Good am Maria,

First of all, every surgeon/surgery/patient is different in their type of surgery and the outcome. We all lose weight at different rates. Some of us tons while others not so much. It can be a frustration but if we follow the guidelines and make the best choices we will be successful.

Unfortunately, I don't know enough about your surgery to undersand what has happened and why you are or are not losing weight/more weight. Its seems to me you hadn't changed your habits (eating surgar candy and nothing making you sick). If you are still acting in the same behaviors post-op as you were pre-op then that could be some of the reasons you aren't losing as you'd like to.

In addition, you should contact your surgeon's office for a intense follow up and allow them to explain to you speficially what has been done in your case, where you are currently, what they can do to help you get back on track and definitely have labs drawn as they are indicators of much. My surgeon is no longer with our practice (although we keep in touch) but that doesn't mean I'm going to forgo follow ups and getting the help that I need.

Wishing you all best!

Kat took the words right out of my mouth!  Have your labs checked, follow up with your surgeons group since he is no longer there and available, change your eating habits (you knew going into this that sugar candy was a no-no in post op life) and make sure you are getting your exercise and vitamins and water in every day.  Keep a food log (an honest one) and see what changes need to be made.  Good luck!

Your surgery is not supposed to work by making you sick.  It is your job to make wise choices and avoid the foods that are not weight loss friendly.  No surgery will do it all for you.

The way to lose weight is by making changes in your diet.  The majority of your meals should be lean protein and produce.  Some low fat dairy and only a few good carbs like whole grains and beans.  The junk food has got to go if you want to lose!

This way of eating is how I have lost 91 pounds so far, 60+ before banding and 20+ afterward.  It can work for you.

When you want to eat junk stop and ask yourself, "Am I trading what I really want (to be slim) for what I want right now?"  (Wouldn't it feel better to hop on the scale and see a new low number?)

Good luck.

Orea
