My attempts at trying to eat better!

I first want to say THANK You to everyone *****sponded to my thread about not eating enough.  Especially you Jill, you have given some wonderful advice. I have been making strides in trying to improve my food intake while battling mentally about eating food.  I have increased my portion size and gone back to measuring my foods.  My dinner may be:

2-21/2 oz of meat
2 tablespoons of veggie
some type of fruit or complex carb.

I must say, I am more satitated, however, I feel I am eating way to much now.  It is such a hard balance.  I know this morning I made myself some weight control oatmeal for breakfast. I NEVER eat for breakfast.  Usually use my protien shake and soy milk as my breakfast.  I am trying to fit in more fruits and veggies in my day.  I have found that Flat Out makes mini qraps now!!  I was so happy to find it.  All in all, I am really trying to eat better and be healthier.

I am sorry I have not been that active, with the wedding coming next Saturday, work, and dealing with Momzilla (not Bridezilla, which I am not) I have been very busy!!!

Mellisa      Great start.   We do understand.  Just remember that balanced meal will give you a health and energy.  I notice when I miss one of the meals I am cranky and lack energy.

Keep up the good habits.   take care   Caroline

Thanks!!  We are not really newlyweds.  We are celbrating our 10 year wedding aniversary on Thursday.  When we got married, we eloped.  So we are getting our marriage blessed in the church and renewing our commitment to one another!!

Good to hear Melissa! Breakfast has always been hard for me. I have been eating oatmeal in the am's. Flat Out Mini Wraps are awesome. I eat those.

Wishing you the best with your 10 years and many more. :)

I'm glad that it's working out for you.  Even though we are suppose to eat higher protein, we still need the good carbs - especially if you workout hard and consistently.  And when I say good carbs, I mean: fruits, veggies, whole grains (such as oatmeal, brown rice etc.).  Just keep an eye on the processed foods.  Things like crackers, while a carb, really aren't good as they have been processed way too much.  Great for the occasional treat, just not daily.

My son enjoys the Flat Outs.  They have some great flavors and Walmart has then on clearance ALOT.  I get them for $1.00 a package quite often and keep them in the freezer.  But, also check out the low carb wraps.  Hubby bought one the other day that while big (the size of a dinner plate) was only 200 calories, 4.5 grams of fat, 31 carbs, 21 fiber and 8 protein. (Yep....21 grams of fiber), to have a portion will yeaild you good nut. stats.

With your morning oatmeal, add some fruit to it.  I use the Kashi oatmeal with flaxseed, and I like to add 1/4 cup of blueberries, or no sugar added apple sauce, or canned pumpkin, or a chunk of mashed banana (you see my point).  This will allow you to add some fruits without over bulking your breakfast.

Enjoy your wedding day....sounds like it will be a special day - CONGRATS!
