I was wondering what pain meds you were sent home on if you had RNY. Just a curiousity since I have a very high drug tolerance and no tylentol 3 is gonna cut it.

Good pm,

I honestly don't remember what I came home on pain meds wise. I do know I did NOT use them after 3-4 days. I do NOT care for pills or the groggy feeling I get from them. This is certainly something to discuss with your anesthesia team and surgeon. All best!

Edited to say: I'm not a Portsmouth Naval patient.

I have not had my surgery yet, but Dr. Barker told me he would send me home with liquid Vicodin and liquid tylenol. Don't know if Dr. Chastenet does the same, but there are only so many that come in liquid form.

Hope that helps, good luck!!

My surgeons office routinely sends us home with percocets however I am allergic to them.  I had vicodin and demoral but I only took two pills post op.  I did not want to get any side effects and did not want to be groggy, either.

Hi Jamie,  I had surgery 12/10/08 at PNH, My Dr was Dr.barker and he sent me home with Hydrocodone.  It worked pretty good for the pain. I think it depends on what you can tolerate.  Good luck with your surgery and if you want to talk just PM me and I will try to help the best I can.

I had Dr. Mann19 months ago. I was sent home with Tramadol.

I too have a high drug tolerance. I recently hurt my back and had to take 2 Vicodin and 1 flexeril @ 4 hours.

Best of luck with your surgery!
