Did yall see on the news this morning (Good Morning America) where the missing cruise ship lady was a WLS patient along with her husband? They showed her OH page on the segment, but it was only a flash.

She was one of us - so was her husband - here is her OH page. They both had Weight Loss Surgery but somehow reading her page, she did not seem like the type that would have jumped overboard.........

It is very sad because she obviously had issues........... but it will give Weight Loss Surgery a bad name.....

From what I read online her family thinks she jumped. Her husband was wanting to gamble to "have some better luck" is what another ship mate said. Horrible situation!

Well we will probably not know the full situation for a while as people will speculate and tell tales etc but I hope they do get to the bottom of it - her blogs sound like she is so full of life - it is all such a waste...... nasty situation indeed....

I have read about this story and agree with you completely. Personally I think this sad story has NOTHING to do with WLS or OH and wish everyone would stop with the negative information associated with it.

I don't quite "get it" why everyone finds the connection so interesting and media worthy. It's like a guy saying "Hey I knew a guy that killed himself and he drank alot"...at an AA meeting... see what I mean?

I agree with what you are saying...the two probably do not have anything to do with it but it is a media world and they are bringing attention to the fact that depression is a very real side effect post op. That is one of the reasons why you are usually required to go thru a psych test preop. According to her family she had problems before surgery and the surgery only made her happier and healthier. I think that needs to be mentioned more, too.
