Hey Melissa! I too am tackling the job of Christmas dinner this year. First time in like 9 yrs that I have done this. But definitely the first time that I am having to be so watchful of what I eat. What kind of recipes or ideas are your looking for? Appetizers, entrees or desserts? I will try to help if I can!

I have found the recipes that work best for me, my family and guests come from the following sites:

www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com

www.hungrygirl.com

www.weigh****chers.com

I hope this is of some help.  I did all of the holiday season at only 2 & 3 months post op last year and really didn't run into any problems preparing things.  I just kept in mind that I could cook for others, and then have some things I could have, and not worry about it.

Good luck!  :)

Hey Melissa,

I'm in agreement with Cindy. I too dealt with this as well newly post-op and I ate what *I* needed to and my family had their regular fixin's. The next year and years since its neat how my sis and family have implemented more weight friendly recipes. Its by changing sugar to Splenda for baking (not a fan of Splenda), using herbs instead of heavy oils, fats etc to season. Sugar free this and that or no sugar added. For me, portion control is important. That too has rubbed off on my family (for the most part). I wish you the best in cooking this year. I bet it'll be phenomenol!

Early out for me I made my meal seperate and cooked regular for the family.  Now...I cook whatever.  There are three meals every year that I do not "watch what I eat"...Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.  I do cook as friendly as possible for me and the family enjoys it, too.  Over time I have adapted many recipes...let me know what types of things you are looking for and I probably have a receipe or two for you....cooking and baking is one of my absolute fav things to do!

BTW...my menu consists of the following:
Turkey
Ham
Stuffing
Gravy
Yams (sweet potato casserole)
Corn Pudding
Mashed Potatos
Cranberry Sauce
Pinto Beans in the crock pot
mac and cheese
brocolli and cheese casserole
corn
peas
green beans
pumpkin bread
dinner rolls
sweet potato pie
pecan pie
pumpkin pie
pumpkin fluff
banana pudding

I can and do make all of the deserts sugar free or no sugar added if I have the time to bake from scratch.  The pumpkin fluff is perfect for me and all I really like so I usually just make that for me and the rest for the other family members and guests!
