I doubt I will fully get my intended response...since she cheated on my FIL with this man, left him and her three kids in the home alone (FIL was working a two week shift straight and not coming home) in the house with a loaf of bread and a jar of spagetti sauce to be with this man...the preacher!  They are a bunch of hyprocrites and I know it full well...thankfully Steve and his brothers knew it and I was never the bad guy that had to tell them!

Oh you're GOOD!  ***rubbing hands together***  I'll be promptly sending this to my SIL who deals with the same **** from her folks with her and my brother-in-law.

I swear those wackadoos think Johnny (BIL) and I are the devils spawn, but it is SO much the very opposite!

My pleasure, ladies...I *promise* you the look on their faces will be well worth it  I myself have used the Proverbs 9:14 in terms of God not saying that mothers were a gift from God. Sort of like the Mastercard commercial....priceless!

ETA: The book of Proverbs was written as "life's little instruction book" to largely address how one should relate to others throughout the course of their lives. The book of Romans and both letters to the Corinthians deal EXTENSIVELY with how husbands and wives should relate to each other. There are far, far, FAR more references in the Bible to marital love compared to parental love...which makes sense because the Church is referred to as the "bride" of Christ....NOT the "parent of Christ", because the love that the Trinity has for the church mimics that of marital love...NOT parental love. Christ himself had no earthly bride, and thus the Church (meaning all of us collectively) fulfilled that role...NOT a parental role. Most major world religions uphold these beliefs. Spoken from the mouth of someone who minored in Philisophy and Religious Studies :)

Well, since we're on the subject of outlaws, mind if I jump in too?  My mil is dead now (there IS a God!), but when she was alive I used to look for get sick cards for Mother's Day!  Hateful?  Maybe, but she set motherhood back 500 years!  So NOW I have the grumpy, grouchy old fart fil.  I have yet, in the 25 years we've been together EVER received a birthday or anniversary card, but boy does he call & DEMAND Michael call him on his birthday.  Yet, get this ...Mike's birthday is CHRISTMAS day & he's never gotten a card.  I found a way to work it into a phone conversation with the fil one time & he actually said he forgot!  Now how the hell do you forget your kid was born on Christmas Day??!!  BS!!!  This thinks of himself at the patriarch of the family....NOT!  He DEMANDS phone calls & remembrances on special occasions yet feels no need to do the same.  He treats his sons like they're children & then acts so surprised when they finally get fed up & tell him to stuff it.  Especially when Mike did.  Mike's been the most patient & the most forgiving, but boy one day his dad called & started talking down to Mike.  OMG!  He told that old man that NOBODY'S gonna talk to him like that, not even his own dad.  He said if you want respect, you gotta earn it & GIVE it & reminded the old man that he's 55 years old (at that time) so he better start treating him like a man.  And then he hung up on him!   I was so proud of him.  A few minutes later the old fart called back, humbleness in his voice & asked to speak to Mike.  They talked for awhile, & Mike, in a calmer tone, laid down the law.  Well, that lasted for about a month.  So when we had our anniversary celebration last year, he was NOT invited.  Didn't want his drama overshadowing OUR special day.

Look at it this way, Ladies...our outlaws are perfect examples of what NOT to do when WE become inlaws.

Thanks for the vent time.

Hugs!
Ann

OMG "get sick" cards for Mother's Day? That's horrible! although that sounds a lot like what my MIL does. I don't blame you one bit for not inviting the old fart to your celebration...we had the same situation happen to us where MIL nearly ruined a major family event with her drama and unfortunately, once a memory is made it is not easily forgotten. I truly wonder what it is that makes people so hateful. At least all of our husbands were born with the backbone that their parents never had!

Me either!!!! Pinky swear! I told my hubby he had permission to shoot me if I EVER got that way! My mom tells me the same thing with regards to my husband, but she loves him as if her were her own and thank goodness because my family is essentially all he has now.

Makes me wonder if I would have gotten along with my FIL.  He passed years before Steve and I got together.  I did love his paternal grandparents before they passed.  I have only seen his maternal grandmother during the funeral time when his maternal grandfather passes away a few years ago.  That's it...no other visits or anything!  I do send her Christmas cards though...in fact hers is going in the mail today!

You crack me up!  "There IS a God!"  LOLOLOL

Speaking of Mother's Day cards.  I have a strick policy that I do not "fake" a card.  I just won't buy one that I don't mean, for anyone for that matter.  Well mothers day cards are the worst because they are all like "you are the most important thing in my world" and "you raised me so well" and "I remember all the good times".  Well as far as I'm concerned Nate's mom and dad were poorly lacking parents and I for damned sure am not giving a card to them handing out kudos.

One year I was doing the begrudging trip to choose one and had one of those moments where I said out loud (OOPS) I f'ing hate mothers day.  This guy that was in the isle with me busted out laughing.  LOL.  Since then, Nate is required to get his own damn cards and if he forgets, OH WELL.  My wifely card buying days are LONG GONE.
