Good am,

Skin issues and irritations are fairly common with many folks who lose weight rapidly. I can only speak for myself personally to say I have the same issue and have been using Nystatin powder/cream. It DOES work for me as long as I remain consistent in using it. In addition, I stay in constant contact with my doc to get it documented to aid in future plastics surgery potentital.

You mention using cream. You might consider a trip to the doc's office for an exam to make sure the cream is strong enough for your particular situation. Also, consider wearing what I call granny panties and a bit tighter to help hold your skin up off underlying skin if possible. Hopefully that will help some. All best.

Hey there. I can COMPLETELY relate to this.

I started having several problems with this in 2005 when my diabetes became so out of control. I was hospitalized for it about 8 times and even had home health care after releases from hospitals for wound care. The rashes would start as simple yeast infections but would quickly worsen into secondary infections and even ended up with staph infections a time or too with blisters that would bleed. My dr's found that the creams didn't work. When I had the raw spots, I would use silvadene cream, which is what they use for burn victims. For just the rashes, my doctors would say, "if it's dry, make it wet, and if it's wet, make it dry". So if I had an infection that was dry, we used the nystatin cream but for the moist yeast infections, we always used nystatin powders. It really made a difference.

Since my RNY, I haven't had them too horribly bad. But when I do, I make sure I call my dr, and take pics of the skin irritations so that when or if the time comes, it is medically documented that I am having problems and maybe I will be able to get some help with plastics.

I'd talk to your dr maybe about the nystatin powders. It makes a world of difference. I am sorry you are going through this. If you have questions, please just pm me. Good luck with this hun!

Most of us do have these issues.  Please consult your doctor.  Using a girdle to keep the skin tight helps a lot and using the nystatin is a must for me.  Speaking from experience...if you plan to lose more than 20 more pounds then you are not ready for plastics.  You will need a revision if you go ahead with it now.  I also doubt you could get approval and a surgery in two weeks especially this close to the holidays.

I was told by my drs to use over the counter Monistat. Just rub it on the infected area.

Thanks for all the suggestions :)

I will be getting back insurance two weeks after, but still will only have three weeks of insurance..will most def be awhile before I can even get an appt with a plastics doctor..plus as one person said..I want to lose more weight before that, so I dont really wanna have to go thru a tummy tuck twice.

Will keep you all updated.
