Hi everyone, I know that Dr. Bruce Schirmer at UVA uses the StomaphyX. Has anyone here had it done by him and how are you doing?

Hi Melinda,I agree with you, you're right. I'm going to try to change my attitude, and concentrate on staying on track, , I just haven't been measuring my cereal and I eat more fruit than I should.
I still have trouble with low sugar at times. The numbness in my thigh has moved down my leg and now is in both my feet (toes). I wanted to go to endocrinologist  but my PCP wouldn't refer me. He said my labs are fine. (only blood test, no urine test) Maybe I'm worrying for nothing.
But I know how I feel and would feel a lot better to know  why the numbness is getting worse.
I'm just venting, thanks for the support , it means so much to me.

Thank you Tammy. I have not participated in the board, and I had forgotten how much better you feel when you have support from friends.

Hi there!

What sort of numbness are you talking about? Do you have lots of excess skin? I have issues with numbness along the backs of my arms, and more recently, across the top of my right thigh. My PCP told me a year ago it was nerve damaged caused by the hanging skin, that the nerves were constantly being pulled. I just noticed a similar numbness on my right thigh, and figured out that it is most likely being caused by my (still) newfound ability to cross my legs. My left thigh/calf is pulling on the right thigh skin.

I also have a place on my back that is constantly "itchy". It's very small, maybe an inch square. For the longest time I thought some kind of insect had bitten me, but it has not gone away in over three months. Now I'm beginning to suspect that skin is also being pulled there.

I was also told that there was nothing that could be done about it outside of plastic surgery. Sorry. If you hear something different, please let me know.

Julie

Hi Julie,
The numbness I feel started in my right thigh. At the time I noticed it , I was type 2 diabetic. That was about 5 years ago. I was given Medicine for it and 4 years ago, 10/04/2004 I had my RNY BP done.

I was considered a lite weight at the time @237 lbs. so I don't have much hanging skin and I still have 20 lbs to lose.

I have Hypoglysemia pretty often and I wonder if my numbness is being caused by Diabetes.
The numbness is on the skin only. I can feel pressure but no sense of touch. I can't feel a blanket on me or my gown on. Its really wierd. It has spread to my feet. My dr. said my glucose level is fine. So I started doing some research on malnutrition. I have several symptoms of not having enough B12 & others also.

Sometimes I feel like something is crawling on my legs.I know this sounds  creepy but thats what it feels like.
I'm going to make an appt. to see my PCP ASAP.
I sure hope I get some answers.
