Hair Thinning

Over the course of the last year I lost alot of hair.  It never bothered me because curly hair gives the illusion of thickness and other than the clumps coming off of my comb it never much bothered me..  But alas, my hair is thin.  My mother and some other people have noticed and commented in the last couple of days.

So, is it okay to wear thin hair long?  Or is it better to have a short cut?

Oh and I won't get offended for an honest answer.  As I told my good friend, I would love an excuse to cut my hair becuase the hubs was in mourning for like TWO YEARS after the last time.  When I say I like SHORT or LONG hair I mean it.  If I was to cut it, it would be drastic.

Thanks gals! (and guys if you want to voice you opinion)

My honest opinion - I would kill to have hair like yours!! Thick or thin it is beautiful! But at the end of the day you have to decide what you really want to do for yourself and what you would like it to look like. I happen to think it is really nice as it - I wish I could have long hair but my hair is way to thin to sustain it ......

Good luck on whatever you decide.

Thanks Jackie.  Honestly my hair didn't bother me prior to the comments.  Yeah it looks thinner but who cares.  I just don't know if I look like the female version of a guy with a comb over.  LOL.  I went ahead and made an appt to get my hair trimmed and colored.  My mom suggested that I poof out my curls a bit more for fullness and we'll go from there.  Nate went bat **** crazy when he found out I was considering cutting my hair again.  He swears he'll start shaving again and I love my wooly mammoth (with the beard), when he shaved last year it really creeped me out because he reminded me of his Dad.  Yuck.  So I have an appt Friday for new color and I'll talk to the stylist about this too to see what the professionals have to say.   :)

Ok...I second the killing part, but, like Jackie said.....you have to do what's best for you.  HOWEVER....I would not recommend too short.  I could see you in a mid length bob, but not super short and spikey.

No?  Boo!  I love love love short short cuts.  I had a little pixie like cut last time.  It was so much fun.  You could style it, poof it, slick it back, comb it like a mans, spike it, or just shag it out curly.  It was way cool.

As you can see in my response to Jackie.  Nate went nuts when I mentioned it to him.  So, for now I have an appt planned for new color and spruce up what I DO have left.  That will be fun too!  :)

What do you think you are going to do?  You talked about getting a haircut a while back but I haven't seen any change in your photos, unless I missed it!

That is why I chopped my hair off. :)  I have strait thick but fine hair.  (I know it sounds contradicotory but the difference is either thick oh thin and fine or coarse0  But my hair was coming out like crazy.  Now my hair, has always been my saving grace.  I could always at least make my hair look good.  i couldn't handle the stragly thin hair it was becoming.  So I chopped it off.  Plus i figure it would blend more eaisly when the new growth came back.  I like my cut and the style.  I am still noticing the hair loss, but it is not as bad with the shorter hair and I thnk with the less weight on it, it helps.

I am the same way, I can go long or short.  Not short like it is now but I have been shorter.  I love that versiablity.

I actually know exactly what you are saying.  :)  Most people think curlies are always thick but that is not necessarily true.  The coarseness of curly hair is what make it look thick.  That's why people were always so shocked I could slick my hair back into a tiny bun - wondering where did it all go.  :)

I'm curious to find out what the stylist says on Friday about transitioning the new hair growth and all of that.  At some point it will have to be evened up somehow!

I havent lost any hair yet but am concerned about hair loss. I have kinky, nappy, tight curls(tight like dreadlocks.. not nice!!) and cant do much with it now but what will I do with it then? If I cut it short it looks like a poodle after a bath.. IM SERIOUS!!  Uggghh.. I wish I had straight hair..

I say dont cut it  you have beautiful hair but looks can be deceiving so with that being said you do what you wanna do...
