I remember you saying they had put you on steroids when you were ill a few weeks back.  Which steroid was it?  I have somethings going on and they think thats the next step....How did you do with them? Any side effects?  Thanks!

They wanted to put me on Prednisone but because of the fear of unwanted eating, I declined. LIKE A FOOL!! I ended up MUCH sicker and had to have 5 shots of steroids, 2 shots of salmeterol and 3 shots of kenalog. Kenalog is a longer acting steroid.

Neither one caused me much uncontrollable eating and when I did feel as thought I needed to eat, (maybe head hunger), I just made healthy choices. I don't really recall many side effects from the shots. I do remember, pre op, the prednisone pills caused me to be horribly mean. And I had awful munchies. But I was on them for 18 months straight.

I would recommend you asking about the shots, if it is a possibility. I hope everything is ok with you and if you need to talk, feel free to pm me.

Good luck!

Ok...obviously I am NOT Theresa but I am going to butt in here anyway.  I have been on steriods several times post WLS and had only taken them once prior to having had my surgery.  The facts are pretty simple as far as I am concerned...as long as you are taking them SHORT TERM then just get the blister pack of prednisone if that is what your doc recommends.  That is all that I have taken.  I am not aware of any studies that show the shots will make you less hungry than the pills.  I know Kat gained a lot when she was on them...but she was on them for quite some time.  This is your health and you have to be your own advocate.  Is being sick for weeks or months worth the possiblity of gaining a couple of pounds?  Seriously...if you are using your tool to it's fullest then you WILL lose what you gain.  And for the record...I only gained one pound when I was on the pills.  I lost that and so much more and was not walking around sick for weeks on end.  PM or call me if you want to discuss this more.
