Good morning everyone! How was your Saturday? Mine was great. I cooked the best chili recipe ever and had family over for dinner. It was very nice. My mom and dad took Alex home with them since I have to work this morning. My husband and I love our Saturday nights alone. It is so relaxing!
Whats on the books for you for today? I have to go to work. Still doing 1/2 days from 10-2. Before I go I need to put the pork chops in the crock pot for dinner tonight and fold a load of laundry. At work I plan on start wrapping my sons Santa presents. (I work on the phone so it gives me some free time) I then have to come home and bake 3 cakes and tons of cookies for a bake sale at work tomorrow to benefit Toys for Tots.
Hope everyone has a great day! BTW- I won't be on here much due to everything I got to do. Will probably check in latter tonight!

Brooke I want to thank you and Tam for doing this for Kat. This is helping her a lot right now. I am glad the chili turned out great and I know the pork chops will too. You and hubby enjoy some time together and again thank you.

Good Morning Beautiful!!  I hope you have a great day at work!!  I will HAVE to get the chili recipe.  I love chili and clueless on how to make it.

I am doing laundry and house work today.  I have a short week this week!   YEAH!!  Did the little break.  I am only working on Monday and Tuesday.  Then once we go back, I will only be there for a couple of week because I am taking 2 weeks off for Christmas.

I got some good rest yesterday so I am refreshed from this past week.  Friday night I went out with a girlfriend.  It was her bday and we went to Carrabas.  My first time there.  I had this salad with shrimp and scallops in it. Their shrimp wasn't to good but the scallops was to die for.  Then we went to see the new movie Twilight.  I am a closet Twilight fan, loved the books.  So it was a nice Friday night.

Oh! Time with the girls is great. I know you have been so busy with work, so I am glad you got some time to relax. Enjoy all that vacation you have coming up! Here is the chili reciepe. Was so yummy!

Chili

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 large clove garlic, minced
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 1 can (28 ounces) tomatoes, diced, with juices
  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 can (15 ounces) chili beans, small red beans, or kidney beans, drained and rinsed

Preparation:

Cook first 3 ingredients in a large saucepan until meat is browned, stirring until it crumbles; drain off excess fat. Add chili powder and next 8 ingredients, stirring well; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Add beans, stirring well, and coo****il thoroughly heated.
Serves 6.

EVERYONE is talking about Twilight!  I had never even heard about the books until this movie craze.  :)  Glad you had a nice Friday night out.

Enjoy your time off! I love making Christmas cookies. My tree is already up and decorated. I just could not wait! Bless your soul- I would kill the kids if I drove a bus!

Happy Sunday to all!!!
Brooke, your baking has inspired me to search cookie recipes. For presents I want to make gingerbread.
Yesterday was quiet. Was able to get to the store to pick up meds and some groceries. The store was busy as everyone was shopping for Thanksgiving. Could not attend the Meet and Greet to dia*****a. Also vaccumed and cleaned up the house.
For Sunday, need to work on those knee exercises. Monday I will be 6 weeks out from surgery and the knee should be bending more than it is. Lots of stiffness and swelling is still happening.
Going to finish up reading The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. Very inspiring read. The author lectured at UVA for a while...had pancreatic cancer while he wrote the book.
Hope to see the movie that was filmed in Staunton, this weekend. The title escapes me.
  Peace to all.
