Something that bugs me

Does anyone else get comments like "You should not lose any more weight"? Also, I have been asked how much more weight I would like to lose, so I state 50-60 pounds and get comments like that's too much or you are trying to look like Barbie.  This is so confusing to me. I know what is a healthy BMI and I'm not even close. Even my nutritionist told me to lose only 20 more pounds (actually 30 at the time, but that was last month).

I have come to the conclusion to just keep doing what I'm suppose to do and my body will adjust itself. Does anyone else get these type of comments?

Penny,

Yep, I have gotten it a lot and still do get it even now that I have gained some!  It is hard but like Melinda said...lose what you want to make YOU happy.  That is what matters.  Be in tune to your body and follow the guidelines from your surgeon and you will do fine.  I am proud of you!

Definitely a comment that happens a lot.  Don't stress it.  You know what is healthy for your body & so will your body.  A lot of times people are just so used to seeing you heavy that as you lose the weight they have a hard time adjusting to the skinny you.

Hi Penny -

I second what everyone else has said here - When I told my Nut what my goal was (165, which is my ideal weight), she said that THEIR goal for me was 180-200 - apparently, it's a percentage of weight lost thing in order for my surgery to be considered "successful".  So while I understand that the doctor wants the 180-200 goal, my personal goal is my own and is what is most comfortable for me.

-hugs-

I love Melinda's response!  I think your body will know when it's adjusted.  I plan to do the same thing, especially after hearing of your doctors advice am curious what will be said at my one year anni coming up.  I had the opposite talk with my doc prior to surgeyr.  He said I could get down as low as what I was in HS and I thought to myself "what are you mad?"  LOL.  We'll see.  Keep up the work and you body will find it's happy healthy spot.  :)

Hearing you say that cracks me up!  I am lower now than I was in high school....and that is WITH my pregnancy weight now!  I was less prepregnancy weight then I was in middle school!
