I have question for all you RNY'ers...
Hey, Miss Ann!
Yes, I have had that happen a few times, but found that I brought it on myself each of the times. Eating something that is dry (i.e., meat, overcooked egg) seemed to be the problem for me. I found out, after doing a lot of research the first time it happened, then through trial and error myself, that what works for me in these instances is to drink HOT tea ****d tea doesn't work). I have some theories why that makes the difference, but I have no proof, I just know that it works for me.
Don't let that be a deterrent as far as having an RNY. In my personal experience, it is not something that happens a lot, and in time, it corrects itself. Hot tea is my friend! :)

No we get food stuck if we do not chew well enough or if some food is too dry - usually for me a meat or fish - I can't always eat meat reheats for instance but it usually is something we have done to ourselves and it is so painful that we only ever do it a few times. Papya enzymes are my friends!!
How are you doing?

All things considered, Jackie, I'm doing pretty good. Thanks for asking. I don't think you'll mind if I use your spot here to answer everybody.
It sounds like nothing will change on that score for me then. Papaya Enzymes have been known to be MY friend as well. Only have had one really scary log jam, but even the minor ones are miserable.
I'm ready to concede that lapband was not the best choice for me after all. And I think I've given it a fair trial considering it's 16 months today since I had the surgery. I've realized, too late, that the biggest additional tool for banding is exercise. Of course when I made my decision for band, I had no idea that my EF would drop 10%! With only 20% heart function, I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna do ANY workout without being in a hospital setting. I've been talking to some of you privately about the idea of my switching to RNY, & you've been most helpful. But my biggest convo will be with Dr. Mo. I can't schedule the appt until we get our new medical cards. Melissa, how much of a goat rope was it for you to get approval? Push come to shove, I might be able to get approval through Tricare...they apparently support bipass but not band. I certainly have my work cut out for me though. I would soooo like to get it done as soon as possible...like before this Spring! Wishful thinking?
I'm sure not looking forward to starting over as a newbie again, but if that's what it takes, then that's what I'll do. At least I'm not coming into the group as a stranger. So somebody please save me a seat on the loser's bench again.

Which insurance did you pick? You do not need to wait for you insurance cars to come in. You are covered. You should be able to call them to get your insurance information and even have them fax it to the Doctors. I have Anthem, however, it was Blue Cross Blue Shield of IL when I had my surgery. They changed over on July 1. I did have to jump through hoops. But the reason they denied me had to do with wanting medical clearneces from a pulmonary specialist for my asthma and a caridologist for the caridomyopathy. I did have to do a six month diet as well, but with you being a revision, I am not sure what the process is for that.
