Hello All,

I am so excited about my new JOURNEY.

I absolutley love this web site, my Nutrionist recommended it at my first gastric bypass information class.

I am in my third month of my six month process of getting approval for my RNY surgery. I have my next appointment with my Nutritionist on 11/26/08.

One of the requirements for me to have the surgery is to loose some weight frist. I need to loose a total of 10 pounds by February 2009. I'm so anxious it feels like I am gaining weight. Any tips on loosing weight is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello and WELCOME!  What area are you from?  What surgeons office/surgeon have you chosen?  I am glad that you have found us and I look forward to getting to know you.  As for the weightloss....protein+water+exercise=weightloss.  That is the formula I follow and it works.  Try and eat as you would now as a post op and cut out the sodas and sugar if applicable and you should see some results.  I will be praying for you!

Thank You for the welcome and the prayers!! I live in Northern, VA, Dumfries Area (Montclair).

I am going to go with Dr. Paul Lin - George Washington University Medical Center, he comes highly recommended by my Nutritionist.  I am going to sit in on a Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group meeting next Wednesday 11/19, at the Medical Center. Thats also part of the approval process.

I am not familiar with that surgeon but I am sure you have done your research!  I think it is a wonderful thing for you to go to as many support group meetings as you can before surgery.  We are all here if you need anything!  I am glad you found us and look forward tog etting to know you better throughout your journey.

Support groups really help. If you are a soda drinker I will start to quit that now. I also suggest to do light exercising, like walking to start out with. It really helps. I would just start slowing changing eating habits. Ex- cook with splenda, drink plenty of water. Welcome to the board and we are happy to have you here. Keep us posted!

Welcome to the VA Board.  :)  Good luck with the next three months of your approval process.  As far as the 10lbs by February, I would adjust your portion size to start getting used to taking in less food.  Also if you frequent fast food places, you can cut that out completely as there are always better choices to be had.  :)

WELCOME!  you will find most of the folks here extremely supportive and knowledgable!  1 year ago, i was just about where you are now, i did not have my surgery until March 28th.  What  an incredible journey.  For me there were a few bumps in the road, BUT, so totally worth it!  Welcome!  Lys
