Two week Post Op check up tomorrow. I sure hope I get to move to the next step of food. I am not hungry at all, but have not really eaten since discharged. I can get one protein shake down per day, maybe a 1/2 bottle water and I have started drinking iced tea. Got to thinking about it and we always dranked our tea decaffeinated with Splendor so that was a welcomed drink.

I have not been exercising, but want to start at the gym soon.

It has been tough, even though I am not hungry, I know I need to eat, but I am missing BoJangles, McDonalds (double cheeseburgers) and Fried Chicken and pizza. I could do without it, but know I cannot have it makes it worst. I rather be able to have it and choose not to.

Anyway, I hope I can have some real table food tomorrow. What did y'all eat on the mushy stage?

Also, I was 356 at begining of LSD, today I weigh in at  314, not to bad. 42lbs

Ken that is good but you need to start walking as exercising before you think about the gym. Getting your walking and water in and protein in is the most important thing that you can do for youself. I have seen what it does to a person when they do not do what they are suppose to do. My husband is one and it is not fun being where all you can eat is potatoes and prestels.
Good luck tomorrow and congrats on the 42 lbs.

Hi Ken,
Good luck to you on your post-op, tomorrow. Changes which this wls asks of us can be hard to adjust to. Though you may not be able to eat a double cheeseburger at McDonald's, you may be able to eat their salads. For the fried chicken, just r emove the breading and eat the meat.o
Keep us posted on your progress.

Ken that is a great weight loss 42 lbs.  I ate alot of refried beans with cheese  and soft mashed veggies. Missing the cheeseburgers and fried chicken will pass , I don't miss any of the fast foods as I told myself that is one of the things that put my weight on before and I was determine that I was not going to put it back on  by eating at Fast food chains.  Keep us posted on your check-up tomorrow.  You are doing great!

Two weeks down already!  I hope you get to progress to pureed's.  Get a list of ideas from your nutritionist before leaving tomorrow.  I'm sure they will talk to you about increasing your water and protein intake in addition to adding the food.

As for exercising, I pretty much only did walking at that stage in the game.  I was allowed to do go back to the gym maybe a month out but was asked to wait an additional two weeks for any lower body work.  And I had to wait until my lap sites healed completely before using the gym pool.  Good luck finding something that you like to do!

Good luck at the appointment!  I can't believe it has been two weeks already!  You really do need to concentrate more on the protein.  The decaf tea can count as water intake so hopefully you are doing well there.  Not to scare you...but if you do not get in enought protein then your body will go into starvation mode and will begin to feed off of itself.  It will eat your muscles (and remember...your heart is a muscle, too!) and you can not rebuild muscle.  Talk to Jennine and swing by and see Irene if you need to.  I know it is a long way, but go to the nutritional support meeting if you can.  You will learn a lot!  As for working out...at that stage I was walking a lot (put the lead ropes on the horses and walked them around the pasture a few times each day) and rode the stationary bike, too.  At about 3 weeks out I got on my gazelle, but not for the full 20 minutes.  let us know what they say and CONGRATS on the 42 lbs gone forever!

PS>>>not now, but at some point you can make pizzas at home...use a tortilla, brush lightly with olive oil, spread with sauce, top with cheese and whatever toppings you want and bake on 350 for about 9-11 minutes.....make hamburger patties and either use no bread and eat with a fork or use wraps or lettuce for the bread and just stick to baked chicken.  I have a good recipe using low fat bread crumbs and it tastes fried!  Don't just eat the meat after peeling off the skin of fried chicken...the oils and fats are still in the meats and it is really unhealthy for you!

I hope I will be able to get more protein in some of the new food I will be able to eat. I keep hearing refried beans with cheese, that sounds like a thanksgiving dinner compared to a shake

I have been walking a little, but not much. I thought the gym would have some of those machines you could ride but haven't been to check them out yet. We are members of the Moose Lodge Family Center (indoor pool, fitness center, etc.) never used it, just take the little one to the pool occasionally.

Refried beans are good.  I can't stand them now...but loved them early out.  You can also get some Any Whey protein and add it to your foods that you are going to cook.  It is the only protein that I know of to withstand heat and still keep its nutritional value.  With the size of your pouch and the volume that you should be eating...you will still not get enough to stop the protein shakes.  I still have two shakes per day even this far out!
