BIG FAT FAILURE!

I am almost 4 weeks out and I haven't lost one single pound since my one week appointment, in fact I've gained a couple pounds!!! I had a period from he@@ that I guess was a side affect from the surgery and now I have lost NOTHING! I feel like a total failure and I feel like the surgery didn't work for me. Maybe my pouch is too big, I don't know. I walk a lot more than I used to and eat a lot less, yet nothing. I don't dump either at least not so far anyway.  I just want to sit here and cry! What do I do now???????

I don't have the answers, but please call your doc or nut for their advice. Could you be carrying extra fluids from the surgery? I came home weighing 9 pounds more than before surgery, so that was disappointing.

Please let us know,
Penny

Traci please do not give up it could be just your body trying to adjust to the new way. I would suggest that you give your doc a call and let them know what is going on and then I would up your protein and increase your water and excersise a little more and see what happens.

Don't give up!  Your body does need to adjust and a lot of us carry fluid around for a bit post op.  How do you know you don't dump?  Have you tried things?  What are you eating?  Are you measuring?  How much water and protein are you intaking daily?  What are you doing for exercise...walking or other things, too?  We are here to help!  Don't get discouraged!

It is pretty normal to have a stall the 1st month out & to have a bit of a gain at that time of the month.  Just keep following the rules & doing what you are supposed to, you will start losing again.

I am a little late responding to your post, I was on the go all weekend.  But don't give up!!!  You can do this.  I had those same thoughts my first month, but it does get better.  I gained in the hospital from all the fluids and in my first week that was the only weight I lost and then I gained for two weeks before I started losing.   Everyone is different and you can't compare yourself with anyone else on the board.  I heard people say they had lost 7-10 lbs per week their first couple of months, but I am no where near those numbers.  Its a good week that I lose 4 lbs per week and last week I only lost 1.5 lbs and I am just 2 months post-op.

We all have those thoughts at time like is this all I am going to lose?  Am I going to start gaining now?  Just follow all the rules they have given you.  Get in your protein, water and vitamins.  You are still on pureed and soft foods so do your best to not add anything you shouldn't have.  Its not a bad thing that you haven't dumped and I wouldn't be looking to try.  Just stick to your plan, increase your exercise a little everyday and you will start to see results!!!
