Metalic Taste

I have a terrible metallic taste in my mouth all day and getting worst. My wife says "didn't you read that in your book"? Well I didn't, but I believe it is in there. Is there any way to get rid of it? How long does it last?

Haven't had that happen to me. Are you taking Centrum Liquid? If so that has an aweful metallic taste to it.

It does happen.  Mine did not last long...a few days at most.  It does get better!  Call Jennine and ask her tomorrow about it or reread the book.  I do not have mine anymore!

Best you can do is brush your teeth and rinse with mouthwash but it will alst about 3 days.  It is the aftermath of the anesthesia from surgery.  Just part of the recovery.. It really effects the way food s, liquid , soft ot otherwise taste right now.  Thisngs you have liked are going tobe different and things you have never liked may becaome favorites.  Those Boosts became my friend and about all I could get down for about 4 weeks.  Just about the time I decided to order a months supply online and where delivered,....they stated tasing nasty, first the strawberry (which was my favorite),.. then about a week or so later the chocolate started tasting gunky too (bitter and just nasty) about the 3rd or 4th month out and I don't like them to this day.
Its going to be a seek and find adventure for a few months.  Something that tastes good or bad to day maytaste exzctly the opposite tomorrow.  But you will survive it. 

I drank a lot of beef broth and ate SF pudding with protein powder stirred in.  Then I include the protein powder in my broth that gave it a kinda gravy consistency.  Then I got to Lite & Fit Yogurt with protein stirred in.  Just don't try to get into too much ffood your body idn't ready for opr you can ruin the proper healing, the mental retraining, the ability to learn to listen better to the guidance your body is trying to give you about how it feeels and what it needs, and when to stop. You can also mess up your new digestive plumbing and complicate your recovery.
 
And last of all,...putting in food your body isn't ready for or is no longer able to deal with, will only make you feel lousy,...that have to feel better to die thing.  We just call it dumping.  You don't want to go there and be incapacitated for 30 mins to 4 hours,.. depending on what you did to earn that privilege.

Now that Joe mentions it...it probably is an after effect of the anesthesia!  I had completely forgotton from so long ago!  Hope it gets better soon.

Hi, That also happens when your body starts to loose weight, called ketosis. It's a sure sign your body is in weight loss state so to speak and can last for a month or more. Just know it is a good thing! Pam
