I had my psych evaluation yesterday, and here's what I posted about it on the DS board:
I just had my psych evaluation--passed with flying colors
It was actually very cool because the doc was very enthusiastic about the DS. He was also very pleased that I didn't let a surgeon pick my procedure for me. I didn't epect a psychiatrist to know so much about the DS, but he did! He mentioned that it could likely cure my diabetes even before I brought it up!
So, check off that box...on to my last appointment with my PCP to complete my 6 months of dieting, and then I should be ready to submit to insurance!
For anyone in the area, he was Dr. Khot at Prince William Hospital in Manassas.
Honestly, he pretty much told me my story--I hardly said anything! He talked about how I probably had little difficulty actually losing weight, but keeping it off was the challenge, and that by losing and regaining repeatedly, I'd probably done more damage to my body than good, and that my diabetes diagnosis was likely the point that pushed me to seek WLS since I was so young...it was like he knew my life story just from me saying hi and that I was getting the DS!
Just wanted to pass on the recommendation of a good psych eval doc in northern VA!
