Your thoughts/suggestions/advice ....

I've definitely been noticing some changes (once again) with the things I can and cannot tolerate with Drucilla (aka Kat's tummy). So, below are some of those changes and what I'd like are some ideas, suggestions, thoughts and advice. Btw, I'll say this ...THIS SUCKETH BADLY!! AND the smiley frowning is not right cause I'm spifferiffic but the ? marks are right. Moving on.....

1) Cheese - I typically eat mild cheddar cheese either in cubes or I cut pieces from the block. I don't eat sliced cheese period unless its provolone or muenster. I think I'm seeing that "yellow" cheese is NOT a good thing. I've tried store brands (Food Lion, Walmart etc), I've tried name brands. I'll do "ok" for a bit but then I get ill and actually dump off them. Now, I know some of you are probably thinking DUH KAT stay away from yellow cheese. I get that but I'm also open to suggestion. The white cheeses are obviously thicker and for what ever reason do fine.

2) Yogurt - I heart yogurt. I'm a "flavor" gal. I love the different flavors. What type of yogurt do you eat? I need to mention "regular" yogurt is NOT think enough and I am always trying to mix new things into them. Its a "consistency" thing and I WILL puke if I eat something not thick enough ...yogurt or not.

3) Eggs - GAG ME WITH A SPOON! I've done fine with these for years now and suddenly the smell of them makes me feel like I'm gonna spew chunks and right then & there. I literally have to LEAVE the house and go outside. Just saying. What are your thoughts.

4) Tuna - I don't care HOW I try to doctor it, it just isn't working out. Recently I tried it and thought oh my this is good, nice flavoring and thickness was good but 2 hours later (yes it took THAT long) I was really sorry I even touched it. Now the smell is horrendous.

5) Fruit - what do you eat? Even now in the Fall I'm curious.

6) Veggies - same as 5.

7) Meats - I can tolerate turkey pepperoni, morning star meat (in my chili), beef if its 93% fat free or higher, chicken if its moist and well that's about it. Now ALL of the above are making Drucilla mad. Go figure.

These are just a few. Seriously. This SUCKS! How mature huh? So, I'd love to entertain some ideas from ya'll.

Now back to regularly scheduled programming.

Hi Kat -

I don't really have any good suggestions, I'm only about 10 weeks out, and I seem to be able to tolerate just about anything -

I just wanted to let you know I feel for you and Drucilla -

One thing I do regularly (at my Nut's orders) is drink one 8 oz glass of light orange juice a day - it helps with the potassium and gets me some fruit in

My veggies are boring and tend to be broccoli, garden salad stuff (tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber, onion, green pepper, etc.), green beans, and sweet potatoes

-hugs-

Thanks for your reply Rhonda! Interesting about the OJ. I'm going to inquire about this at my next appt with my surgeon's office later this week. I LOVE all types of veggies EXCEPT eggplant. BLECH! I am trying for variety. I tend to be a garden baby. We grow one every year and I can say my veggie intake drops dramatically from this point in the year on. In the garden right now are collard greens which will be ready in a few more weeks. I do enjoy the veggies we have cut up and frozen and heart sweet taters a lot. Sigh ....thanks for caring!

Let me see if I can give any ideas:
1)  I used to love mild cheddar, I am not a big fan anymore.  I eas laughing cow low fat cheese.  Or I used shredded cheese, either low fat itlain mix or low fat mexican mix. I put is on eveyrthing I eat!!!

2)  I am not sure about thick yogurt, but maybe making it into a protien milkshake? With Milk and protien powder.

3) I LOVE eggs!!  OMG!!  season them before or as soon as you cook. Maybe some garlic powder or something.  Or make it festive mexican flavor with salsa on top once you finish.

4)  Make a tuna melt.  Mix in some lowfat mayo and season with garlic salt and pepper and heat it up over a skillit then melt cheese on top.

5)  Any type of fruit.

6) same with veggies.

7) meat is not such a big deal with me, except ground beef and I have not had steak.  But turkey meatballs is my FAV with some sauce and cheese melted on it.  I get this one brand, not sure of the name, but it is the best!!  I will have to look up the name for you.

Thanks for replying Melissa. I do love the laughing cow cheese in the light. Its potent for me so one wedge lasts a long time. Shredded seems to be easier. Good thought there. I'll try the protein milkshake. I'll try ANYTHING with eggs since they really are great. I think this is another in the long line of taste bud/pouch adjustments. I have never had a tuna melt. I will try this out. Steak is out for sure but please do let me know about the meatballs.

Thanks

Also, i am not sure if you do carbs or not.  I try my hardest to stay away from them.  I think I have a fear adversion to them.  But i have found one thing that is great!  Get a Flat Out bread, cut it in half.  Put it on a cookie sheet and put a small amount of pizza sauce on it.  Put 6 turkey pepporni and italina cheese over it.  Cook it in the oven for only a coupe of minutes.  The bread is hard and it is a delisious homemade healthy pizza.

Hey Melissa! I do this too but with Thomas 100 calorie english muffin. I slice the muffin in half and only eat the 1 half slice because I am still scared of bread but I love doing these. I will have to check out the Flat out bread. I've never heard of it.

OMG!! I am terrified of english muffins!!!  It seems like so much bread and carbs! LOL  That is fear talking again.  Out of everything I checked out the Flat outs had the least calories (90) and carbs (17) and sugars (1).  Even regular wraps scare the crap out of me.  I such a paranoid freak. LOL

Hey Melissa,

I do SOME carbs. I get the Kidz Flat out bread. They are a great size for me. This sounds like a WONDERFUL idea. Thanks I plan to try this for the buggas & myself. :)

For a change in taste (I prefer it better) I bru**** very lightly with olive oil first.  I also use the toyfuani wraps for this as well!  The entire family (sans Steve...Mr. Picky Eater!) loves it!
