What, if anything do you use in place of Splenda in recipes? First of all, I am allergic to it but most importantly since I know it is refined with bleach I do not want to consume it. Any suggesstions would be appreciated!

Depending on what I am making will depend on whether I use Splenda or Nature's Sweet. I have found that the Nature's Sweet does a better job in baking, but it's a bit pricey. I get it from: http://shop.bariatriceating.com/Nature-Sweet-Sugar-Replacer_ p_21-172.html

Oh...and it's malitol, so you have to use it sparingly.

I am also trying this new stuff called Somersweet. Talk about pricey...WOW! I'll let you know my thoughts on it this weekend.

There's something I've been reading a LOT about. Its called ZSweet. I'm going to see about it. Its supposed to be better and gentler than Splenda and other artificial sweetners and can be used for baking as well. Let me know if anyone else has tried this or has experience with it.

Ukrop's. Don't know what their cost is. But the website's cost are a bit steep. However, there are some things that are worth paying for if it improves my health and choice in tastes for me and my family. I've read great things about it. It comes in packets, reselable pouches and shakers. I'll give Ukrop's a call and ask what they carry and how much their prices are.

Just hanging in there. Waiting for this semester to be over. It's kicking me hard! Working hard at getting all the protein I can and wondering if my hair will ever grow back....Other than that doing fantastic and planning my 100-pound party!
