Hello everyone,

Everything went great regarding the surgery.  I was released last Friday... however I have been having unbelieveable gas pain.  This was an issue for me prior to surgery but the meds I used to take for it I can no longer take because it has a bicarbonate in it...  Any advice???

Good am,

Glad surgery has been successful. First, go with what your surgeon has suggested regarding relieving gas. As for the gas the BEST way to relieve gas is to WALK, WALK, WALK! It helps your body release the gas naturally. You have a lot of build up from surgery. Try to walk several times a day to help with this.

All best!

Gas X strips worked for me. They dissolve on your tongue.

Good luck, Penny

The gas after surgery was rough for me too.  Everyone told me to walk it out, and there really was truth to it.  I felt much better when I did my 15min walks.  After about a week it had subsided.  Now, I take gas strips, but I'm not sure if they are okay early post op - check with your surgeon.  :)

As the others have stated WALK!  It is the best, most natural and effective way to deal with this.  Also, check with your surgeon to see if gas x strips are allowed.  They are a lifesaver for me even now...at 3 1/2 years out!

THanks everyone... I took your advice and asked my surgeon about the gas x.  He said I could try them to see how they worked but the first thing I needed to do was to up my walking... so that's what I am focused on now.  walking walking walking.....   I did get the gas x just in case I really really needed them... LOL
