Eschew perfection.

It's not uncommon for people who have food addiction to try to eat perfectly, fail, and then give up. If you're in that vicious cycle, you know how disappointing it is to try hard, slip up a little, and then throw in the towel. You've probably done it so many times you almost don't feel like trying again anymore.

As hard as it sounds, you can begin to deal with this problem by actively resisting perfection. Do everything imperfectly. Always leave a bite on your plate. Part your hair crooked on purpose. Spell something wrong. Be late. Don't send a greeting card. Make everyone go to the movie you want to see. Let your linens sit in the dryer and put them on the beds wrinkled. Leave crumbs on the table. Avoid perfection as a rule, and learn how to live in the gray areas of life.

Action for the day: Do three things imperfectly today, on purpose. Write about how it feels in your journal.
