Stafford/Fredericksburg Support Group?
I am looking for info on support groups in Stafford/Fredericksburg area. I have been reading the VA board and looking for info but I did not find any. I would love to find out meeting dates/times/locations. I go to a support group in Woodbridge, out of Potomac Hospital, but they are cutting down to once a month. It would be great to find another group to go to as well.
Quick bio on me - had LAP RNY on Sept 2, 2008. Very Happy with weight loss results so far (since August 19th I've lost 40 pounds) but I'm having TONS of trouble getting in enough protein/vitamins/liquid, etc. I have tried so many protein supplements. I cannot stand ANY of the ones flavored like choc/van/strawberry...I had bought a sample pack from BariatricEating.com and couldn't stand most of it. The only things that I can choke down are New Whey liquid protein (the thing that looks like a test tube, flavored like popsicles) and another protein drink that tastes pretty close to real Green Tea. The thick, shake stuff makes me vomit. Can't stand it! I know I can't possibly be the only person who has had this reaction to the protein supplements.
Anyway, if anyone can provide info on the Stafford/Fredericksburg area support group I would really appreciate it.

I go to the Fredericksburg Stafford OH group. The next meeting should be this coming Wednesday at 7pm at the C Ray Grizzle Building on Butler Rd. I am copying and pasting the link with information from last month's post.

VIrginia Weight Loss Surgery Center - at Potomac Hospital
They meet on the first Thursday of every month. They usually meet at 6:30pm. Meetings take place at the Hylton Education Center (located at the back of Potomac Hospital). They used to have first and third Thursdays, but due to low participation they are cutting out the second meeting for the winter months. The meetings are run by Brittany Ray, the dietician with Dr. Halmi and Dr. Tran's office. Janice (I don't remember her last name) is almost always there as well. She is in charge of the Weight Loss Surgery Center at Potomac Hospital. They are both super nice and I like them very much! I am sad we are down to one meeting a month.

Dr Tran and Halmi are good surgeons.. but not the anesesist staff...
Would have loved to be with a closer support group. I am in Lake Ridge Woodbridge ..Would have been nice to be closer to home. I will stick with Fair Oak Hospital Support Group in Fairfax...
