Your input please - Protein :)
Protein sources:
1. Body Fortress Whey Isolate; WALMART: $12.97 for a Big Jar ($35 at GNC for Isopure), 1 scoop 23 gms, mixes well with lotsa stuff; yogurt, SF pudding, anything as a chocolate or vanilla flavoring. My two current concotions are
- 1 minute Quaker Oats with a squirt of clover honey, a scoop of protein powder, and a diced banana, great breakfast or lunch; usually makes two-three servings
- fruit smoothies; favorite is bananas, strawberries, OJ, protein powder (chocolate) and ice to consistency desired
2. Pure Protein Bars; WALMART, 4 standard flavors - 1 bar 180 cal 40 from fat, 17g Carb, 2 g sugar, 4 g sugar alcohol, 20 g protein (whey). I usually have 4-6 a day, mid morning snack, mid afternoon, and /or evening or 2 as a meal repalcement if I am on the go. Can cause gas so be warned!
3. Newest addition to my arsenal; ATKINS Advantage bars; various flavors but only the ones with 11-12 gm protein. I prefer the Caramel Fudge Brownie bar. 1 bar - 160 cal, 60 cal from fat, 19 g carbs, 1 g sugar (no sugar alcohol), 12 g protein (soy, whey, and milk isolate blend).
4. Fish/Seafood - favorites; Shrimp and imitation crab legs
5. Egg whites with some cheddar cheese; usually soft scrambled
6. Chef Boyardee Ravioli - Serving 1 cup (2 per 15 oz can), 240 cal, 70 from fat, 35 g carb, 5 g sugar, 8 g protein (vegetable and soy). Amazing to read the ingrediants list and see the amazing stuff that in there (whaet barley tons of vitamins and minerals, cheese, dairy, iron, etc). I usually eat it out of the can at lunchtime at work, avoiding most of the red sauce or at home such as for dinner, rinse and put on a plate and sprinkle (kinda heavy with shredded cheddar cheese).
7. Munchies - Nature Valley Granola Oats and Honey bars - serving: 2 bars/1 pack, 180 cals, 50 from fat, 29 carbs, 11 g sugar, 4 g protein (soy).
8. 4-6 bottles of water (16.9-20 oz) per day. Gotta keep em flushed
9. Vitamins and minerals - they are preventive not correctional or curing
Hope that helps. Your tastes may vary. Thanks for asking.

Hey Joe,
I really like your ideas and am interested in trying them to see if I like them. Ah, good to know about the Pure Protein bars and that I can find them at Walmart. I'm making a trip there today or tomorrow so I will look for them. I like the point about the Chef Boyardee Ravioli. The idea of rinsing off the sauce is fantastic along with adding the cheese. I eat the Nature Valley bars already.
Thanks for replying!

I drink 1 protein drink/day using 1 scoop of ProComplex powder (buy on-line or at Vitamin Shoppe) in 6 oz of FF milk. Here's the count for 1 scoop of chocolate: 135 calories; 30 g protein; 0 g fat; 2 g carbs. Add whatever for the FF milk.
I also eat the Atkins Advantage Peanut Butter Granola bars (1/2 before and 1/2 after exercise and as needed when traveling or expecting to miss or be late for meals/snacks). They deliver 210 calories, 17 g protein, 8 g fat and 18 g carbs (7 g sugar, I think).
Otherwise, I still rely on LF/LS yogurt and LF dairy products for snacks. Chicken and shrimp are my "go to" high protein foods for meals. I can't resist steak once a week even though it's high on the list of inflammatory foods along with eggs, which I rarely have. :(

I LOVE yogurt and eat it at least once a day. I really enjoy the Yoplait Light Thick & Creamy. The flavors are:
Strawberry
Key Lime Pie
Mixed Berry
Peaches and Cream
French Vanilla
Lemon Meringue
Orange Crème
I enjoy them all except the Orange Creme. Here's the nutritional facts.
As for eggs I have an aversion to them right now and I'm bummed but will try them again later. :)

For protein drinks I preferred Isopure Zero Carb Dutch Chocolate, mixed with milk. For protein bars, Atkins Advantage, Chocolate Chip Granola.
Here is a recipe I had received but never tried.
1 box sugar free jello chocolate fudge pudding (can substitute any sugar free pudding flavor)
2 1/2 (or 3) C. fat free milk
4 scoops Unjury unflavored protein powder
4 ziploc disposable round containers w/lids (1 cup size)
Put pudding, milk, and Unjury in blender, mix well. Immediately pour even portions into 4 containers. Cover, Freeze. Pull out of freezer, let sit for about an hour & enjoy.
(By multiplying recipe by 4, you could do 16 containers at one time, once a week).

I use the Isopure dutch chocolate as well - To me, it has a much better taste than the Unjury -
I'm not eating protien bars yet, but if I start getting low, I'll have an Atkins Advantage Chocolate Royale shake - which packs 15g
I made this protein ice cream on Sunday and it is awesome!
Chocolate Hazelnut Ice Cream
Serving size 1/4 cup

Thanks for replying! I am definitely looking into the Atkins Advantage bars when I travel to the store. Seems like most folks enjoy them. Whoa! STOP right there! Hazelnut is the DEVIL! LOL! Kidding! I just don't care for it but I imagine I could substitute it for another flavor.
