anyone know of ct scanner for someone 500lbs

i am in the early stages of setting up having the surgery, but i have been having alot of shortness of breath after a bought of cellulitis.  My pcp and cardiologist want a ct scan but due to my weight there appears no scanner to accomadate me and if i can't find onei have a date with an esophageal echocardiogram.  Does anyone know of a ct scanner or MRI for the super-obese? Does anyone know what hospitals in the US are considered the real leaders in WLS surgery? i will even travel out of state to get this test done.   
                       i just joined this forumn and look forward to giving getting all the help and support i can.

First want to say welcome to the VA boards. I am sorry you are having so many health problems. I go to St. Marys hospital and see Dr. Hutcher. I have had a open ct scan machine. I weighed about 410lbs. You may want to call St. Marys which is located in Richmond and see if they can help. Let us know what happens. Best of luck to you.

Hi Lara, Chesapeake general is supposed to have an open MRI machine, you could also call mri & ct dignostics, its a local office (ches and va beach) thats all they do there, they may be able to help you too.  Sorry you are feeling so bad, welcome to the boards!

Richmond has several open MRI machines.

As for a surgeon/hospital for the super obese I highly recommend Dr. Neil Hutcher with Commonwealth Surgeons.  He has been doing this surgery longer than any other bariatric surgeon and has done several surgeries on the discovery channel.  Let me know if you want more info on him.  He did surgery on my cousin at 525 lbs and my aunt at 600 lbs.  He is awesome!
