I guess I didn't chew my eggs well enough this morning because for the first time I feel like there is something stuck going down.  The initial pain is starting to subside.  Does this mean it is passing through on its own?  Is there anything I can do about this other then have it come back up?  Sorry if this is gross, its just a Saturday and I don't know where else to go to ask.

Thanks, it does seem to be getting better.  I can finish my breakfast and I am not having any problems.  This is the first time I have encountered this problem too.

Good am, chewing is a big deal and something each of us takes getting used to. Some key things to remember with eggs is they are already hard enough to "chew" well because of the consistency of the eggs. For me, no matter how they are made there are times when they don't exactly settle well. I need to have things mosit but more importantly I need them at times like with eggs to be chewable say mixed with cheese. This happens from time to time. Just remember to slow down and chew and take your time. :)

I like eggs but if I eat one bite too many I get like a crushing pain in my chest - they are so hard on me  - so I am careful how I eat them. The other week I was in NH and staying with a friend, and her husband made us breakast. I usually only eat one egg because two are really heavy for me - I could not tell how many eggs were in mine so I ate what was there - apparently there were two eggs - it took me about an hour to even remotely feel better. It is just a reminder that I had surgery and it is keeping me in check..... and makes me much warier of how fast I put food into my mouth....

So it won't stay stuck but will take a while to get through.........

By the time you read this you will probably feel so much better :-)

Eggs were the first thing I got stuck and got sick on. They are a once in a blue moon food for me now too. When things get stuck warm drinks always help me to get them down. I have used Papaye Enzyme chewables that you can get on vitamin aisle or at health food/vitamin store. The papaya is what meat tenderizer is made of too I was told so at first before I had them I used a small amount of meat tend. and some warm water to help it go down. Best wishes and hope you are better by now.

I love the papaya enzyme tablets. They don't work for me every time, but often they do help. I got mine at GNC - they're chewable, which is nice b/c I don't do so well swallowing pills. Sometimes it just has to come back up, though

I find myself getting food stuck a lot - I feel like I'm eating slowly and chewing, but apparently it's not slow enough! So I have to really be careful about that. Eating is so different now as a post-op.

But know that yes, eventually it will pass. Sometimes it takes longer than others. Another thing I've learned is that when something starts to feel stuck stop eating! This may sound like a big fat *duh* but it wasn't so much for me. No, eating (or drinking - I know we don't drink with meals, but I've tried it to get unstuck) more does not push the food on through. It just makes it hurt longer. Maybe one of these days I'll start to get this right....

Hope you're feeling better now!

What I have found helps me when that happens is drinking hot tea.  The first time it happened, I really looked everywhere for answers, and that one is the one I tried and have had success with.  I just drink it until things feel better...times vary.  I hope that helps!  :)

I have always heard to papaya enzyme but although I have some never tried it.  The two times I had things stuck, I tried sipping on a drink, it "helped" by making it too much and up it all came.  Sometimes when I too full and get to feeling yucky there is nothing to do but wait it out, usually takes about an hour.

I am also suffering from this! It does not matter what I eat with the exception of soup. I DO chew throughly and I DON'T get too big of a bight. I can't wa**** down either. I also cannot vomit since I have had my surgery. Before my surgery when I got too full I could just think of something gross and up would come anything I had eaten in the last hour! I had a virus a few weeks ago and I was so sick, but could not vomit. For me I think it's a good thing.
