2nd thoughts after surgery...is this normal?

That is so interesting. I have never heard about the body adjusting, but it makes so much sense to me.

And yes, I'm still glad I had the surgery. There are days that I say to myself that I wish I could have lost it without surgery, but I know in my heart that wasn't going to happen.

Where does your mom buy the SAS shoes?

Thanks, Penny

Hi Penny, We actually have an SAS store here in Va Beach, there is also one in Williamsburg, i'm going to ask my aunt where she gets hers, she lives in Richmond. They have several styles, I have a slide on clog, my mom wears those and lace up ones as well as a slide-on fully enclosed clog.  I believe she also has sandals.  I'll get back to you as soon as I can!

Doesn't really hurt now.  Only if I do a lot of standing or walking (trip to the zoo, shopping, etc), weird stuff like sitting in the floor to wrap christmas presents, or work on crafts or something where I am in a weird position.

Definitely keep trying to find a great pair of shoes, maybe a back support brace to help your posture.  I would go through spells with my aches & pains as I went down.  But definitely talk to your doctor to ease your mind.

Penny I found this for now, I don't know how close any of them are to you, and I know you'll be in Richmond for a meeting, maybe Tammy can point you to one of the stores in Richmond.  If I didnt have class that night I would drive up!

Penny,  these fears are not silly - but I think you are just panicking a little needlessly. Although we can indeed have calcium isues I have never heard of anyone's having last ALL their teeth or anything like that. However it is VERY good to be aware that there are issues out there and be addressing them early so you can be prepared and perhaps avoid some of the pitfalls.

I think many of us have second guessed th surgery but most agree we would do it all again in a heartbeat - after all - the alternative is much worse.... stay overweight and deal with all the illnesses that come with that.....

I used to have bad back and knee pains and could not imagine why I had these pains when I was 100lbs lighter?? But they do go away eventually - and when I come to think of it my wrists and elbows used to go through a cycle of pain for months and then all of that pain disappeared and has not come back.

You will settle into all of this and later you can help advise others who go though the same fears as you have had.

I am sure your check up will go just fine!

Jackie

Thanks Jackie,

I feel more comforted knowing you all had these aches and pains. I really don't remember reading about this before surgery (maybe I did and forgot...that's very possible).

And yes, I would take this anyday over the 72 pounds I have lost.

Thanks, Penny

People here have great advice - they know all about this stuff. I just wanted you to know that I second guess the decision to have surgery all the time. So, either it's normal or you and I are just weird together But I'm leaning towards it being normal...

You're not alone in this! I hope you're feeling better soon!

Thanks Sarah,

I have mostly good days and overall I"m glad I did it. Just these little concerns. I think I may be panicking over nothing.

Good luck to you, I hope you feel better too. Its good to see you posting.
