I'm Cranky and Tired

My Dr. ordered a 3 week preop diet if 5 protein shakes a day and nothing else to eat...except SF jello and SF popsicles. I think I'm gonna kill somebody soon. My friends are commenting about the dark circles under my eyes and I'm normally a very happy person, but I just about chewed somebody's head off last night at a meeting.

I really don't like this. I'm supposed to be exercising, but i'm sooo tired and feel weak. I'm taking in less then 1000 calories a day...I'm drinking over 70oz of water/crystal light and taking all of my vitamins/supplements.

I still have 11 more days of this and I'm not gonna make it...UGH!!! Guess I just needed to vent

Christy,

Vent away, sweetie.  I did not have to do this but I can imagine that it is extremely hard.  I wish I could be there to give you a big hug...so take a virtual one and know it is from me to {{{{{you}}}}}.  Think of the end result and how much healthier you will be.  The doctors only require this for your safety to help shrink your liver.  My surgeons office does require this now, but not at the time I had surgery.  I am here if you need to talk...PM me or let me know if you want my number.  You can make it thru this!

When I was on the pre-op diet, I called the nurse when I was "starving". They let me add 1 Pure protein bar per day. It may be worth a shot to ask. It really helped with the hunger.

Also, I do sympathize...but doing the preop diet was the best thing to help me prepare for after surgery.

Good luck to you,
Penny

**UGH!!!**

I'm so sorry - I am literally feeling your pain right now. I was a miserable person to be around when I was going through that - both before and after surgery, if you want to know the truth. And 3 weeks is a really long time. All I could do was stay as busy as I could. Including taking lots of naps, which is how I generally deal with stress I thought I would die if I ever saw another stupid protein shake. Let's be honest - I still basically feel that way!

So I'm there with you in spirit - good luck! I know it doesn't seem like it now, but eventually it will pass. But whine and vent all you want until then - you're earning it!

Hang in there Christy! You have made it this far, and you can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

My daughter only had to do a one week liquid diet. Some nights she would come over to my house, and just cry from being stressed and hungry!  All anyone could do was be there for her and give a whole lot of hugs and comfort to her. Just know that i am thinking about you and hoping you all the best!
