Hi Christy,
Along with the items you mentioned, I found that baggy clothes were good to wear home. Bring a pillow with you for the ride home, too. Hope that your surgery goes well.

Hey Christy.....

Your day is ALMOST here!  I am so excited for you.

My suggesstion is NOT MUCH!

You will need baggy clothes for the ride home (I just wore baggy clothes in for surgery then did not have to pack anything extra) and definately a pillow for the ride home.  When you are going over bumps in the car it helps a lot to hold the pillow to your tummy (also do this when you cough).  The i pod is a good thing, too.  Slippers and robe are a must for the walking part.  I never used chapstick and never felt like reading or looking at a magazine but we are all different.

I do highly suggest something to put your hair back with.  I hated it being in my face all of the time and just wanted it in a pony tail.

Remember...you will most likely not even use 1/2 of what you bring!

Hey Christy,

Tammy's right on. I came to the hospital in the same clothes I went home in and didn't bring much else. Didn't have time to read. I focused on walking and getting out of the hospital as quickly as possible. In addition, I did bring deodorant, a hair tie and brush. Otherwise, nothing. else. Tip: WALK WALK WALK every chance you get!!!!

You're on your way!

Add a hair tie or clip, a washcloth and small towel to wash your face. I hated the dry, yucky feeling from the anesthesia.

Wishing you all the best!

Christy,
All of that is good but I brought toothpaste and brush, They have the towels and wash clothes there just ask the ladies working for them.  You will have your own little tv to watch and that is nice.  The only thing is I really didnt do much but sleep because the pain med. They give you knocked me out.  I would get up walk and talk and little bit and then they would bring me the pain med and I would be out again for a couple hours.
I really liked the ladies that worked there they were really nice and very very helpful.
I cannot wait to see you at the support group meeting before your surgery and we can talk more.
 Take Care,
   Christine

I would leave my personal clothing at home -- like slippers, etc. -- unless you WANT hospital goo all over them.  They have slipper socks they put on you, which are great, and will give you an extra gown as a robe for walking.

They also have all the towels and washcloths ... some places even have those pre-moitened and soaped disposable things.  I brought all those home I could.  They are great for post surgical home care.

I was upset I'd left a blank DVD at home.  I wanted a recording of my surgery, and couldn't get it because I didn't have the blank.

I also brought my laptop, which was a God-send for me.  I ended up staying 3 days in the hospital, and am such a net junkie ...

Don't forget the names/numbers of all the folks you want to let know you are okay

another suggestion is to bring pads/tampons if you have a preference. I've heard some say that surgery starts their cycle. Better to be prepared!! Also if you're bringing your cell phone you'll need your charger! Make sure someone has a camera. You will want a few hospital pics. These will become a precious memory even if at first you think OMG, why do I have these.

AND....the most important thing to bring...a positive attitude!
