How much weight do you lose on average per week?

Hello to all!

My name is Bridgette and I will be having the lap band done on Dec. 15th. I was just currious to see how much weight people lose on a weekly basis. Anyone feel up to sharing?

Thanks to all!

Hi Bridgette,

I'm not as familiar with Lapband but we have some banders on the boards. Hopefully they can shed some light on this for you. Wanted to say "welcome" and keep popping in and say "hi." :)

Hi Bridgette,

I'm also am not as familiar with Lapband but we have some banders on the boards. Hopefully they can shed some light on this for you. Wanted to say "welcome" and keep popping in and say "hi." :)  I know that typically RNY patients lose a lot more weekly then a bander does.  I averaged 7-9 pounds a week.

My sister had lapband earlier this year.  She never had the immediate weight loss that RNYers typically see, but that may have been because she had been on WW for a year already and had lost more than 50 lbs by that time.  She is losing steadily at 1-2 pounds per week with daily exercise - mostly strength training.

Hi I had the rny , and my hubby had the lapban. He had his surgery done on Jan. 30, 2008 and he has loss 64 lbs. He is losing about a lb. a week. He just had his check-up and the dr. said he was doing good. He goes for his 3rd fill in November. The weight does come off but is a slow process. He eats anything he wants but in moderation, he watches his carbs and calories. He drinks 2 protein shakes a day, and eats small portions. He is doing great. Keep us posted.

OH has a "weight loss planner" but I think it's more geared to the RNY (it's been pretty accurate for me). If you put in a lower percentage then it might adjust itself to what you need.

Here's the link if you're interested:

THanks for posting that.  I had to fiddle with it a few times but it seems that my progress so far is following the 90% excess loss which they show putting me at just a few pounds below where I set my goal.  Interesting to know how much excess weight that would be lost!

You're definitely welcome.

I don't see any reason why you can't make and/or exceed your goal.

Good luck!
