3 weeks until surgery...

Currently my surgery is scheduled for Oct 8th. I started the protein shake diet my doctor ordered on Monday. I'm getting a bit tired of drinking my meals already, but I can do this...it's gonna make my surgery safer and give me a head start on weightloss right?

Actually I lost 1.8lbs. the first day and then 3.5 today. Of course I don't expect to keep this pace, but it sure was a boost for me to keep on drinking the shakes:)

So far I'm stocked on protein shakes, Calcium citrate wafers, Flintstones vitamins, and B-12 (under the tongue kind). Lots of sugar free Popsicles, SF Jello, and Crystal Light.

oh and a nice new pair of walking sneakers :)

Am I missing anything? I want to be well prepared for after surgery.

thanks

Seems like you are doing pretty good.  Maybe load up the i pod with some good walking tunes and don't forget a good water bottle.  You are going to do great!

The one thing I wish I'd thought of before my surgery was my sleeping arrangements for after I got home - Start thinking about where and how you'll sleep, keeping in mind that you won't be able to just "roll over" during the night and that getting up will be really difficult if you're flat out and don't have someone to help you - (My poor husband spent the first week practically lifting me out of the bed) - Once my staples were removed I had a much easier time and now things are back to normal - but those first few days to a week were pretty rough -

I slept in a recliner for two weeks and I didn't even have staples!

Sounds like you are a good track!  i hated my pre op diet.  But I did loose some weight before surgery.  And it is very helpful!!  You can do it!!  Wow, time goes by so fast.

Sounds like you are well prepared.  Just keep pushing through it and you will make it.  The benefits of the loss will be so worth it.
