Steve has a herniated disc in his back.  It has been going on for so long that I forget that not everyone knows.  They wanted to do a laminectomy as surgery but now we get to try the injections and some pills first!  We are SOOOOO excited (about that and other things!) and I am grateful for all of your support and prayers.  You all are the bomb!

Tam - Thanks!  I was wondering what the problem was.  Glad to hear that they will try non-surgical procedures first, but the surgery was not as bad as one might think.  I had it on a Wednesday evening and was back to work (part time) the following Monday, probably because the pain beforehand was so excruciating that post-op pain was (comparably) nothing!

Fingers crossed for you both!

Cleo,

You are one of three out of over 1000 reviews or people that I have spoken to that have said this surgery worked.  Most wish they had never had it done.  They told Steve to expect to be out of work for a minimum of 8 weeks.  He does work construction so that may be part of it.  Thanks for crossing those fingers...we need all we can get!

Tam glad that Steve is trying other means besides surgery.Becky has the same problem and she got the shot and is doing ok she still has a little trouble but not like it was. I have the degentative bone disease in my neck and her in the lower back and if I could have had the shots I would have but I had to have the surgery and I am not sorry that I did.

Hey there!  Steve is not opposed to the surgery...just doesn't want it right now.  He is too  young for the side effects that the surgeons say he will have and so we wanted to wait.  We both know he will have to have it at some point or another.  My dad had the degenerative disc disease, too and it is nothing to play with.  He has had surgery as well and the recovery was pretty bad on him.  Of course he has many other problems as well.  Steve gets his first round of shots next Monday.  I will let ya'll know how it goes.  Thanks for thinking of him/us.

No problem I can understand what he is going through. If I can help please let me know. I will keep him in my prayers.Yes the recovery time is no fun. I had the surgery on the day before thanksgiving and did not come out of the brace until February so it is a long road to go. Could not lift for up to 3 months.

Hi Tammy,
I can relate to your husband I had the injections and then finally I had to have the surgery. As Cleo stated it wasn't as bad as folks make it out to be. It's up to the person and how bad it is.
I definitely will keep him before the Lord in prayer. Keep us posted

We both know that one day he will have to have the surgery we just feel at 32 years old he is too young for it.  We are not opposed to it but would rather wait and have it done later in life if something else will work.  We at least want to try something.  I will be telling him what You and Cleo have said about it not being as bad as people think.  I am curious as to what, if any, side effects you have had...and Cleo, too.  It helps to have done some research!  Thanks for the prayers.  They are greatly appreciated.
