4 months out

Hi everyone,
Here I am with my 4 month update. I am feeling pretty good, I am down 81 pounds.
This was a little slower month but still lost 10 pounds.
I have noticed that my hair is falling out by the tons. YIKES I have read to up my protein and to try a biotin supplement. Well I have started both. So I hope to have some improvement soon. I have to say the more time that passes (post-op) the challenges grow. With the tolerance of more foods and the mourning of others.
I thought  as the pounds fall off that It would get easier, but I was so wrong. I think  I should be rewarded  for losing the weight that I have with of course some thing I love.
Like FOOD. That's obviously what I have done in the past. But now I have the challenge to find it in my self to love my self more than the food WOW who thought that would be such a huge hurdle.  It seems like such an easy concept to love your self but WOW I am trying so hard to find the moment I had stopped loving me and why I lost that love??? Then maybe I can start loving me again. Anyway I am moving forward and that is why I started this  journey to get my life back and move on.  So I WILL get there. I am looking into joining a gym
to get on a regular workout schedule. YEAH ME.
Thanks for letting me ramble.

Lanette,

You are doing great in your 4 months.  81 pounds is awesome!  Yep, mourning food is normal.  You have to occupy yourself with something else instead.  I "rewarded" myself with a trip to a clothing store when I needed it.  I did not always buy things but trying on things and seeing the sizes get smaller and smaller was an awesome feeling.  The tolerance issue can be haunting but I advise to get your head around it now.  It will be easier in the long run if you set boundaries now and stick to them.  Great idea on the gym!  I also use that as my reward system...it is "me" time when no one else is asking me to do somehing for them!  Good luck!

Thanks Tam, I am looking forward to the gym for some me time.  I am looking for the day I feel good enough about myself to like buying cloths again.  Hopefully soon.

Lanette - you are doing GREAT!  i also do mourn some foods, but have found that i feel so much better, its not really that big a deal.  I love desserts, now a days i'm satisfied with a fat-free pudding, and that's just enough and not much sugar.  As for the gym, GO FOR IT.  I went from a non-excercising 44 year old to a 44 year old who goes to the gym 5-6 times a week!  i love it!  keep up the good work!  lys

Thanks LYS,
I too feel so much better everyday and have to say it does help with the mourning of my favorite foods. I am looking forward to the gym.

Hi Lanette,

CONGRATS on 81 lb thus far! You are doing well at this point. Please consider attending a support group and reaching out to other folks and you also might consider talking with a nutritionist and/or someone specializing in WLS and the journey we've undertaken. Stay determined. Being positive as often as positive is a key component to success.

Hi Kat, First oof Would like to say what an amazing person you are! I do not post much but I do read almost everyday. You add so much to this board in ways that are such a positive influence.
I wish there was a support group close by. We live in Hot Springs and the closest support group that I know of is in charlottsville. That is 2 hours away.  I will continue to look though. I do see my Nut when I go for my checkups. That is very helpful. Thank you so doing all you do for everyone here. Lanette

Hi Lanette,

Thanks for your kind words. They mean a lot to me. :) I hope you can find something in your area. If not, maybe consider attending one every now and then and in between popping in here with questions and concerns.

Hugs.........

Lanette:  First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!  You are doing great!  Keep it up!  Kat's suggestion of a support group is a terrific one.  I have been attending a couple per month since surgery, and if I can't attend one, I really, really miss it.  There's so much good information there, not only from professionals, but from other WLS patients.  The camaraderie is awesome!  :)
