I met my first goal of losing 100 pounds
I just had to share with all of you. You have been such an important part of my success. I went for my 4 month appt with my surgeon this morning and since December when I started this wonderful journey I have lost 103 pounds. My original surgery date was cancelled for March, so I was rescheduled for May 6th 2008. I lost a lot of weight prior to having my surgery. The only problems that my labs are showing is my protein and vitamin D levels are down, so I need to work on that. Almost all areas of my health have improved, the only thing I continue to have a problem with is my arthritis. I think we have finally found a medication that doesn't make me sick, so we will see if that improves.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families and friends who lost loved ones on 09/11/2001. God Bless our Service Personnel for keeping us safe.

Congratulations on the weight loss, that's fantastic! DON'T forget to keep taking photos, now, and more importantly later as the weight loss slows down. I was amazed that the last 30lbs changed me almost as much as the first 210.
As for the vitamin D: I was told at one of my appointments (maybe 18 months?) that I was also deficient, and that most people, WLS or not, are deficient. Recently, I have noticed that they are beginning to make kids cereals that include calcium and vitamin D, so someone must be noticing.
I don't know what he told you to do about it, but I was told to take 4000mg of vitamin D per day. At the following appointment my levels were barely in the normal range, so I was told to keep it up. You might want to start taking a similar dosage. The highest dosage I've found in an actual store is 2000mg (wal-mart, vitamin shoppe), but I hear that they make them up to 50000mg, which you can find on the internet.
Good luck -- it only gets better from here!
