A friend & I are planning on attending the support group on Thursday at St Mary's hospital in Richmond. While I have been to a few there, never the one that they will be having on this Thursday. It is the "Forever Thin" group. Just wondering if anyone has attended and can enlighten me as to what I can expect? Thanks in advance!

You'll have to let me know what you think of the support group. I know most people stick to thier own hospital's support groups, but i would really like to attend more. And since St. Mary's has one per week (geez, I STILL can't believe that!) there are plenty of opportunities for me to catch an extra meeting.

They actually have 5 support groups but one is for lap banders. The others are for every type of WLS surgeries. Two of them a month are for post ops and the Forever Thin is for pre and post ops. I will definitely let you know how it goes!

The Forever Thin one usually consists of a Q and A with a surgeon then a topic (changes monthly...sometimes a plastic surgeon or a personal trainer, etc.) then a "is it normal" segment where you can ask any questions and see what is going on with others. Hope you have a good time. Irene is great and a wealth of knowledge.

Thanks for the information. I'm trying to broaden my information base. And since my sister in law, who is a nurse in the newly designated Bariatric wing of the hospital & a future WLS patient, we want to check out different groups. Again, thanks for the information.

Anytime. Things may have changed some but this is how it was three months ago when I went. Always happy to help. Hope you get some great knowledge. Irene, the facilitator, is awesome. Although not a WLS patient herslef she really knows her stuff! Have a good time!
