Old habbits die hard I tell ya. I use to go to McDonalds all the time. Don't even think about the place anymore until today. In the mail I get coupons for a bunch of free stuff there. I felt like getting in my car and going right over there. LOL. Instead I put them to the side to give to my sisters boyfriend. They are in college and eat anything thats free. So WOW for me!

I hear you.  I was a COMPLETE McDonalds junkie addict before surgery.  It's a huge trigger for me and it's one of the only things I limit my husband by (he is NOT allowed to put it in a vehicle or our house where I can smell it).  I just can't risk a lapse.

It's been 10 months since my last double quarter pounder, large fry and orange Hi-C...I'm over it though.  I feel so much better than that stupid hamburger and fries ever made me feel.

I totally know what you mean, I got some coupons from McDonalads also. I really never ate alot at Mconalds so it doesn't bother me to drive past them. Now Wendy's is where I mus****ch as I loved there spicy chicken meal. Being 6 months and 2 weeks out I just tell myself that I am going to eat and drink healthier foods now, and I don't need that type of foods any more. There is always a monkey on my right shoulder telling me its ok to eat there but , My other monkey on the left shoulder reminds me where I was and how far I came without eating those fatty foods. So you know who wins .... the Left Monkey.  There is always something out there to tempt us but we will remain strong and prove to society that we are healthier, and choosing the right foods to eat.

no problem. I was laughing and spilled cold water all over myself not paying attention. An entire 20 oz bottle. Moved the laptop just in time! This could have been an extremely expensive wow if I did not have faster reactions! LOL thanks

Brooke,

Congrats on staying away.  I do miss me some fries...but I am so much better off without them.  I was never a "junkie"...but give me Wendy's and it is another story!  Now I try my best not to go to any of them and it is funny because Kara doesn't really want them anymore, either.  Maybe once a month or so and I do not mind that at all!

Congrats--I know how hard it is to resist not only fast food, but FREE fast food at that!

I'm a junkie for fatty foods (like fast food)--luckily after my DS surgery, I'll only absorb about 20% of the fat I eat, so I can actually have a burger as a good high-protein food (minus the bun if I find carbs make me gassy ).

Jill,

It is not a good idea to push the fatty foods, even though you only absorb 20%.  There are other issues that it can cause.  I still have burgers, on average of once a week, but I make them at home and grill them.  I also only use 96/4 ground beef.  There is no need to not enjoy some of the things you loved preop but please be careful.
