Hey guys! My little man started 1st grade today and came home with an "extra" treat. He was soaking in the bath tub when he called me in and said he had to tell me something private. He spread eagles his legs and shows me his "privates". Low and behold a tick on his testicle. So I finish bathing him, get him out to work on the tick. He was so brave. He asked me why the tick did not go on his arm instead, and every couple minutes would ask me to stop so he could breath. It was so sad to see him in pain but his remarks were so funny. It took 30 minutes to get that tick out. What a night!

How weird that you mention ticks. Cameron came in to the living room, wanting me to put his cell phone case on his waist and so he lifted up his shirt. I saw this little bump, which I assumed was just a scab from a bite. So I flicked at it with my nail and saw that little bugger's leg move. It was a tick. Of course, Cameron freaked. I had to get my dad to pinch the skin up, so I could pull it off with tweezers. The head wasn't all the way in but one side of the legs were. I put it on a napkin and watched. Damn that little thing was moving.

We freak when it comes to ticks because last year, the last week of school, Cameron's school nurse found one in his head. It took a huge chunk of his scalp out and he contracted Lyme Disease. He still, to this day, has to be checked by his pediatrician.

I am so glad that you found the little critter. But OMG. The worst possible place. Bless his little heart. Hope he is doing well now. hugs & prayers for both of ya'll!!!

Man!  and I thought we were closing out the tick season!

Sorry to hear Cameron has Lyme Disease.  I'm assuming since you found that tick quickly last year he was able to do the early antibiotic treatment?  Is that all that needs to be done, or does he have to take meds for the rest of his life to ward off future problems?

I never really worried about them until Cam was so sick. He had the bullseye rash on the top of his scalp, his glands were so swollen, fevers, leg cramps and aches. Had to miss the last 3 days of school that year. We usually treat the yard with some stuff to kill them & fleas because all the houses around us & behind us have dogs but I think we forgot this year.

How cute that Alex is "embarrassed". Kids definitely do learn so much from us. I tell Cam all the time that he's going to win me an Oscar for his over dramatics, lol!

Oh this has not been a good first day of school.  I got a call from the school nurses office today and my oldest Justice was in there.  She fell some how during lunch on the bench and has injured her self in the "private area".  She has been lightly bleeding and it hurts to pee.  She wanted to stay at school.  So I became a mess at work and could not coentrate at all.  Plus I had a presentation at school tongiht, and group presentation and we get graded indivdually.

My husband got home early and saw the kids off the bus.  So I called my sitter and asked if she could take a look at the situation and see if there is a llot of blood or her period.  I trust her, and she has two older daughters.  So i talked to her and she said it was very little and made me feel a little better. I have an appointment tomorrow with the doctors to make sure everything is ok.

My goodness.  Tough day for the kiddos for sure.  Do let us know how Justice' dr visit goes.  Bless her heart for wanting to stay in spite of what happened.

My Matt also contracted Lyme Disease...thinking on it, he was about Cameron's age as well.  Fortunately it was caught early so he wasn't THAT sick.

But it's good that you Moms have such good rapport with your sons that they are comfortable coming to you with such "delicate" matters.

Hope everybody's 2nd day is better than their first!

Hugs!
Ann

Oh my goodness, today has not been such a good day on the child having accidents front.  I hope Justice is feeling better and doesn't have any pain.  I hope the doctors appt will calm any fears you have.

Hey ladies,

I hope the kiddios both get to feeling better. Hope the tick on Alex doesn't have any lasting effects and that Justice's appointment goes well this afternoon. Nothing to report here other than a crabby apples attitude because it was hot, the bus was croweded and running late but kudos to Ms. Andrews (bus driver) for totally making us parents and our kids safe and at ease!
