Pet your pet. 

 

Sometimes all you really need is an understanding soul to spend time with you while you're dealing with difficult issues. Friends and family can obviously fulfill that need. But if you don't really feel like talking, and you just need to sit quietly in the company of another, don't underestimate the power of a pet to play that role for you.  

Research has shown that pet owners are mentally and physically healthier than those who do not own pets. Everyone who has ever owned a dog knows the joy of coming home from a hard day and being greeted by a family member who is genuinely thrilled to see you and makes no demands on you--other than a pat on the head, a belly rub, or the chance to curl up at your feet. And as an added bonus, dogs serve as great motivators to get out and walk.  

Action for the day: If you don't own a pet, do some research today on what kind of pet would fit into your lifestyle best. If you already own a pet, when you get home tonight, put aside all your work and simply bask in the unconditional love that only animals can give.

Great post, Jill.  I snuggle with mine every day and they all sleep in the bed with us. I do not know what I would do without my doggies!

Same here.  I cannot imagine my life without my girls - heck everyone here should know by now how I feel about them.

Anyways...they just seem to tune into my feelings and know how to be there for me - unconditionally.  My girl Roxy brings me so much joy, that thinking of her makes my heart burst.  But...she will have some competition.  I just paid a deposit for a little boy from the same breeder we got her from.  I go to pick him out next weekend.  http://www.icewindfarm.com/shiba-puppies-for-sale

Marvin the WonderCat has gotten me through many a nights this past few years. He's the best most faithful and loving companion...never judges my tears or wants to fix them...just lets me be in that moment and loves me anyway...no matter what. All he ever asks is to be fed and for a clean litter box....I think I get the best end of that deal.
